The 586 will be used for home defense and loaded with .38 Special +P. The 27 will remain a range gun and loaded with whatever ammo I can find due to the shortage.
Iron Sight, consider me jealous. I looked everywhere for a NIB Model 22, Model of 1917 , but never found one. Also, the $999.00 MSRP was hard to swallow. It is disappointing that S&W discontinued this model from their Classic line.
I already own a S&W Model 27 with a four inch barrel, but today I purchased a S&W 586 with the same barrel length as my 27. I intend on using the 586 for home defense and the 27 for the range. Ideally, I was just looking for a healthy discussion about the two revolvers.
