    Moving to Texas; Enlighten Me!

Welcome to the neighborhood. You'll enjoy it. I also recommend taking a trip down to Austin. It's not a terribly long drive from Lewisville.

    Getting my first gun

I have to agree on the .22 its cheap shooting and a lot of fun. Of course I love my 91/30 as well, but it ain't exactly cheap shootin'

    TV Hunting Shows

This thread made me remember a show I used to watch with my dad when I was little. All I remember about it was Jim Varney would be on it from time to time. I used to love it. Haven't watched any new hunting shows though.

I know I do. Just this last weekend I finally got to shoot my new 91/30, and being kinda let down because it didn't kick nearly like I expected it to :D

Op Ed in the New York Times

The issue seems to be that all antis think that we are all uneducated red necks who can't wait for a chance to shoot some zombies, or we are all Rambo just waiting to snap. I've never met a gun owner who wasn't overlly (sp?) cautious with their guns, and I've only ever heard "I hope to God I...

do you have pet names for your guns?

I named my sr9 Wynona. I don't normally name inanimate objects either but my girlfriend wanted me to name it. +1 to anyone who gets the reference

    Ruger P95 vs. Ruger SR9?

I have an sr9 and I love it, but I've also shot a p95 and enjoyed that too. The sr9 fits my hand better. Get your hands on both, see if your local range has test fires of each and try 'em. But either way I think you will be satisfied.

    Idaho: Permitless Carry Bill Introduced

I wish something like this would happen here in Texas. A ten hour class, plus about $300 in expenses is rough for the right to protect yourself. Hope y'all get it!

And this is why I shouldn't bring my wallet to my LGS

Walked in to my LGS to look around and chat today, and left with this: It's marked 1939 and I believe it was made at the factory Iz something. I wasn't even planning on buying but it's in such good shape I couldn't resist. Haven't taken it to the range yet but I will soon :D

    What Gun To Buy???

My brother had a Taurus 24/7 in 9mm that is a joy to shoot. I personally have a Ruger sr9 and love it. For plinking you can't beat 9mm for the price of ammo. I'd recommend starting there so you won't have an excuse not to get to the range often, and then you can always get a larger caliber...

That's a good looking site you have there. I didn't get to watch the video on the .380 but the article was well written. I'll have to keep my eye out for more of your reviews.

Received poor service at a gun store. (Formerly "not really a gun discussion...")

I've had to deal with at least one guy like that in every gun store I've ever been to. The best thing to do is to shrug it off and try to avoid dealing with him if possible. For everyone like that, I've been able to find someone who works there that provides excellent customer service.
