Thanks for the kind words, this wouldn't have enough red in it to pass for a Cordovan but it's not far off the spectrum. As a caveat my sister worked for a year or so in Pell City at an equine clinic - seemed like a nice place to live the few times I got to visit.
I really enjoy looking at basket weave, but for my every day gear I couldn't ever see wearing it. Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you sir, but your overly generous. The 696 rig seems to be the crowd favorite!
All of those are the same base color, that I boringly just call brown or dark...
I had a conversation with one of you guys on shoulder rigs a couple weeks ago, and thought I'd share this to show something a little different than what we are used too.
This first one is a horizontal rig for a 3.5" Model 27. Sports a veg lining, thumbbreak, and shark trim. He did not want...
Seems like I'm doing more and more sets like these and while it is time consuming it always leaves me giddy to get 'em out the door to their new forever homes. This batch was no different.
First one is a plain antique chestnut belt in full weave:
The second is an antique russet rig...
Depends on what they used. With blue, I press the face of the screw down on a piece of rubber which grips the head, and they will let go. If it's red your not getting it out. If it's just stubborn or cross threaded the first method will work.
Chicago screws are easily replaced, and it is not uncommon for makers to loc-tite them ( I do ) to prevent them from backing out over time/use. All nice rigs - like the buffalo the most myself!
Thank you for the kind words!
Shark skin is extremely tough stuff, but it is not suitable alone to make a holster. It will be backed with either cow hide or horsehide to create a holster. What you get out of that combination usually is a smooth interior which makes for a great draw, and an...
Few days late for shark week but I don't think anyone here will stripe me over it. This is a rig for a local customer ordered by his new fiance'. I got this chocolate shark hide in a couple months ago and then a customer cancelled his order so it was just sitting. Fortunately for me someone else...
Barry - it's just something I cobbled together when I was still R&D'ing shoulder rigs. I don't have a photo of that set up, but it is this webbing with a horizontal thumbbreak holster and a different knife.
I have the exact same gun, and carry it under a coat in one of my shoulder rigs. Mine sports a pair of stocks from Culina. You'll be very happy with your purchase!
I made this with carrying a 4" L-frame in mind, as I was using my 586 to get my feet wet in IDPA play. The problem for me on a L-frame is my 586 is a square butt. If you have a later production model L-frame they are all round butt and would be much easier to carry without it blatantly printing...
I'm a big proponent of pancake and other variant holsters, if your only intended use for this holster is Open Carry there is no reason not to get a little distance between the gun and your body. A good holster for this is any Avenger/Bruce Nelson Professional style holster which puts the second...
One of the best things about working leather is the folks that you meet. Since I started in the hobby I've had folks make comments and you become friendly with them, and this is one of those guys that said "I gotta have something." This order started as a 2" K-frame holster, then a 2" and a 2.5"...
RC, several makers offer that style of holster. I can't speak to the maker of that one specifically. The originals carried a pair of snub nosed revolvers and were referred to as a "New York Reload." This type of holster was popularized for the 1911 in the movie 'Faceoff' where Nicholas Cage...
