I too have the LAR-8 Elite Operator. It is heavy (if you're used to a .223 rifle) but it has little recoil. With iron sights out to 600 yds I am hitting a garbage can lid metal gong at the range. I can only imagine what having good glass on it will do as I've yet to find the glass I want to...
MagTech that I have in the golden colored box has softer brass casings than they should be. I did not receive such a warning when I got my LAR-8 a year ago and tried the MagTech and it had issues with extraction...leaving the brass in the chamber with the rim pulled off....after removing the...
My varmint calibers of choice are .22 and .204 Ruger. Both allow me to see what I hit through my scope without the recoil jump of the 22-250 or higher calibers. I can watch my targets either drop or explode (depending on the round fired).
Jim Watson, my comment on "corrosive" for the nitro-cellulose should have read as "corrosive??" because I don't know what the standards for Egyptian manufacturing were in the 30's and 50's....I don't know that they used "retardants" or other chemicals to slow the breakdown of the nitro-cellulose...
Thanks SDC for that clarification. I know of many many districts and suburbs in Cairo and did not know that Factory 27 was located there. I only noted that I did not see the word Shobra on the labels. I know of a Shubra Al Heima district.
After more looking this morning....I managed to...
Ok gents...as I read it, it is Arabic ...it is manufactured in the United Arab Republic (the Old Name for Egypt during the time of Gamal Abdul Nasser) in factory 27 in the year 1957 for the tag on the far right but the blue box reads as 1934 (unsure if date or another number designation)... the...
Patience is a virtue for all of us. With the loss of their founder, the NRA conference, the panic buying, as well as the regular customers and their orders, I am sure that they are very busy adjusting things. They may have just one or two people for phones (on a regular basis) and they have to...
I've run into that problem with rifle loads on my LnL (.204 and .308). It happens when your press isn't bolted securely to your bench and you cycle through the lever overly fast. The start/stop of the brass in the shellplate is jerky and causes some power to spill out. This doesn't happen...
I got my Sturdy safe a couple of years ago. It weighed in at about 1500lbs. The wooden dowels make great movers for level ground and ground with a little bit of slope. 50-60 used range golf balls made for quick turning and manuevering in tight spaces, but NOT for moving on a slope. Block and...
I tried to click on the Breitbart link and I got a hit that it was a virus trying to download....be careful of who posted that link.....inadvertant or purposeful I don't know.
The Air Force DMO doesn't sell their surplus to the "common Joe" anymore. For over 15 yrs they sell off their surplus to wholesale surplus buyers who buy up everything for pennies on the dollar, in bulk, and they in turn sell it back to the "common Joe's" in various surplus stores at GREAT BIG...
If the President cared one iota about the life of a single child like he says and that he would do everything he could to do so, then he should IMMEDIATELY un-fund Planned Parenthood. Abortion kills more children in a day than all the mass shootings by nutjobs. He is a hypocrite of the most...
Be very wary about who carries what power with regard to WalMart. The Oblama administration wants them to fall into line with their views and WalMart wants to avoid the Oblamacare taxes etc. It's all politics and political and they're making decisions that they say are based on their "bottom...
I purchased my M1A a few years ago and it specifically states that "this gun is not legal in California if purchased post ?1998?" (or some year close to that).
What kind of ranges are you looking for? Indoor? Outdoor? Check out the Eastern Nebraska Gun Club (ENGC) in Louisville, NE. (located south of Omaha). There are a couple in the Fremont, Elkhorn area (though Elkhorn is being swallowed by Omaha as it grows). The largest outdoor range in that...
@hammerklavier.....my hat is off to you! I am a teller of puns and that one was a doozy...........but just so you know....the reason I tell puns .........................................................................................is for punishment!
Like Larry the Cable Guy said (and I paraphrase here) ....if you can blame guns for killing people .... does that mean I can blame my pencil for spelling mistakes?....your friend is uneducated about guns....and statistics....by his own statistics (and faulty logic)... we have about for times the...
Agree with "bds" on the .308 powders....I use the same. As for 30-30 I have been using the leverolution powder and it has performed just fine for me. I haven't tried any other 30-30 powder as I still have a couple of pounds left of the 8lb jug (I originally started with a 1lb jar). If it...
I've been using Titegroup and will use it until it runs out and then I will find another powder. Titegroup is very dirty when fired and messy when reloading. It shoots fine, but I am hoping to find something better.
