    The Panic Is Slowing

Debunking the rumor that DHS is buying all the pistol ammo. http://http://dailycaller.com/2013/02/26/rumor-control-did-the-dept-of-homeland-security-recently-request-to-purchase-21600000-rounds-of-handgun-ammo/ Panic, hoarding, speculation or a combination of the three it's gonna be a while...

    Shotshell Reloading

Thanks for all the input About the time I started this thread I ordered some manuals from BPI. I have the lyman book on order so I'll have a couple of sources to draw from. From the input on the machines (most mentioned)it sounds like their great when they work and suck when they don't. I...

    Shotshell Reloading

So I'm considering starting hand loading shotshells and would love any advice those here that are experienced with reloading shotshells can give. My situation is that I bird hunt a lot. I probably go through 3 to 4 cases of dove loads a season and at least a case of duck loads. This doesn't...

    first time loading the 44mag

In my 629 4" I'm loading Missouri bullet co 240gr Keith over unique or blue dot. Very fun round to shoot. Yes it's dirty. Yes it's smoky. I don't care. In my super Blackhawk and marlin I'm loading 240 gr xtp's over W296. They will bust a rock well and will make two holes in anything I might...

Do you decap before you tumble your cases?

I like to decap as soon as possible to avoid any corrosion from the primer. I bought a lee universal decapping die and a cheap press and have it dedicated to this. I'll wait to tumble the brass until I have a full tumbler's worth.

44 mag blue dot light load

hdbiker, how big of a charge of powder for your medium and medium heavy loads? Gas-checked bullets or no? Thanks, J

44 mag blue dot light load

Loaded up some rounds and went to the range yesterday. I think RCMODEL was right on with his advice. The load seemed very similar to the unique load I have been shooting (10.7gr). I want to say that it had a little less felt recoil but I am not very sensitive to recoil so i am probably not a...

44 mag blue dot light load

Will definitely let you know. I like the unique load but it leads the barrel some Blue dot is a little slower so maybe that will help. J

44 mag blue dot light load

Gun is a 4" 629. Loading 44 mag brass. Bullet is a missouri bullet company 240gr Keith. I have been loading with 10.7 gr of unique. This is the lee manual starting load. I like it and it is very accurate. I have a bunch of blue dot on hand. Any suggestions of a blue dot load for...

    Remington quality?

I bought an 1187 special purpose in college back in the early 90's and loved it. I wore that gun out, literally. I did not overtly abuse the gun, but used it heavily for dove and ducks. During college we hunted everyday during duck season save final exam days and Christmas. After college I...

    44 reloading question

"Keep in mind I am shooting a Smith 329PD witch is an air weight revolver. I have pushed that cast 265 Ranch Dog bullet at 2,100fps and it performed great. So I don't think the WW are to soft, especially if they are water dropped." Huh?

    44 reloading question

I own a SBH Bisley Hunter and have found that it likes a longer bullet. Accuracy with 240gr xtp's was adequate but when I tried 265 and 270 grain bullets accuracy really improved. Shooting lead bullets you might want to check your throat and groove diameters before you order any because if...

Cases hard to run in and out of crimper

So yesterday I was reloading some 44 mag LSWC 240 gr in some previously shot cases and started noticing that every once in a while the cartridge was hard to get in and out of the crimping die. These cases are a mix of Remington, Winchester, and fiochi. They are all trimmed to the same...

    Which Turret Press??

I've been using the rcbs turret for about a year now and really like it. At first I was hand priming, but eventually set up the priming function on the press and I like it. It is a solid piece of equipment It has 6 stations on the turret head so depending on what operations you are performing...

    HARD Cast .44 Mag w/H110

Thats a pretty good charge behind a non gas checked bullet. If your cylinder throats and barrel are .430 you might be fine. If they are bigger like my ruger Blackhawk you might have some issues. The bullet will definitely obturate. I just got some of the same bullet that I plan on shooting out...

    Reloading Tolerances

So I've been reloading a little while now and am starting to get better results. I have mainly been loading 44 mag and have started shooting longer distance and my question is about tolerances. I have gotten mixed results, mostly good, but found nothing I can blame more than the operator. Not...

Where to get powder and primers around Ft Hood, Tx?

Guns Galore in Killeen. Webers in Temple. My advice to save money is to buy in bulk from places like Cabelas and Midway USA.

    Are you shooting more lead?

Question for the bullet casters... I starting to scrounge for wheel weights and wanted to figure out a fair price to offer if the tire shop wants to sell them. How much are you giving for a five gallon bucket of wheel weights? With all of the Zi, Fe and stick-on weights, lug nuts, valve...
