smith and wesson 617 .22 long rifle with a 6 inch barrel.

I have a 617 6" and absolutely love it. You will find that the trigger smooths out dramatically after you've shot maybe two bricks worth of ammo. Get some speed loaders like the Speed-Beez or other good ones, and you will have a ball.

    Fiber optic front sights

I am a big fan of FO front sights. And my eyes are still quite good.

New CZ 512 .22 WMR rifle

Finn, thank you for the tip about the barrel tension. I will check that out. I am the first to admit that I am still learning my way around the rifle. And really liking it. Thanks to all in this thread for the comments and observations.

    Beretta PX4 or another M9?

If you are invested in M9/92fs magazines remember that with the PX4 you have to invest in a whole new mess of magazines. Personally I try to keep my assortment of magazines down, so in my opinion variety is NOT necessarily a good thing. Especially since I like to have at least 10 magazines per...

    ultimate fighting semi.auto.pistol

Fun thread. For the "ultimate" military fighting pistol I am going to agree with the US Army, in which I served, and say that a 1911a1 with 8-10 round magazine, or a Beretta M9 is the best. Hard not to like some of the modern Striker-fired pistols though. Love my Ruger SR40c and I would trust...

    Great News out of Australia!

Nice. I usually (not always) avoid foreign guns, but obviously our friends in Australia are an exception to this! :D

    School Me on Henry Rifles

Golly, some hard comments about Henrys! I bought a Golden Boy .22LR for my son and the more basic H-001 for myself. Hey, what can I say? My H-001 is light, handy, shoots well, and will accommodate a scope if you want one and has decent iron sights if you don't. I upgraded the front sight...

New CZ 512 .22 WMR rifle

FINALLY I got my CZ 512 .22WMR rifle to the range. My local range is limited to 25 yards, so not the world's most perfect place to test a rifle, but still a good time was had by all. Here is the rifle, just before we went to the range: At the range, I was firing Federal .22WMR rounds. This...

Need your opinion on which .22 to buy.

Here in California 10/22s are readily available and only about $20 or so more money than they cost before the Democrats started this current gun control craziness. Go for it. There is so much you can do with a 10/22! One of my beauties:

New CZ 512 .22 WMR rifle

Well, California's infamous 10 day wait is over, and my CZ 512 WMR .22 rifle is finally home. Put a Redfield Revenge scope on it, and we are ready for the range this Friday afternoon! This evening I field stripped it to check cleanliness just to know that I knew how to disassemble the rifle...

New CZ 512 .22 WMR rifle

Just got a link to DHL -- my 10 round magazines (5 of them) just hit Los Angeles, so they should be here before I can pick the rifle up on Monday! So the Zombies will have to immediately take notice. I will not be equipped with just the 5 rounder it comes with.

New CZ 512 .22 WMR rifle

FYI although it comes with a chintzy 5 round magazine, 10 round magazines are available from CZ. Got an email that the 5 that I ordered were shipped today.

New CZ 512 .22 WMR rifle

Thanks for the info, fellows. I am very excited about the rifle as I have wanted a .22 WMR rifle about forever. Range report will follow after the California Democrat 10 day wait to pick it up. (A week from Monday.)

New CZ 512 .22 WMR rifle

I "pulled the trigger" on this rifle on Friday. I only did cursory research on it simply because right now if you see a weapon that you want, if you do not buy it that day it is invariably gone within 24 hours. As it was I got the last 512 that my LGS had -- i.e. the display copy. No worries...

New Ruger "Mini-14 Target" model; illegal in CA

The kind that we elect here, that's who. This rifle would be illegal in California because of the thumbhole stock and the flash suppressor. Just from looking at it I don't see anything else that would be a problem. So a different stock, and removing the suppressor, would be all that would be...

    Aimpoint Pro.

The Aimpoint Pro is a very fine Red Dot Sight and you will not go wrong with it. Tube style red dots are fine. I have several and love shooting with them. Here is an Aimpoint CompC3 (quite similar to the PRO) mounted on my Mini 14: Hosted on Fotki

    New M&P15 - What Optics?

EOTech or Aimpoint -- either will not let you down. I use both and like both. I have also had good luck with an Ultradot Matchdot (which is a LOT less money) on my Mini 14: EOTech on the Ruger SR556E

Best bang for the buck .22LR

I am partial to the good old Ruger 10/22. I am particularly fond of the Take-Down model:

California Gun Owners Could Use Your Help Against SB249

Fellow HighRoaders, please sign this petition. We here in Socialist California are under constant attack by the Brady types. This Yee character is bad news and this SB249 needs to get defeated.
