I Did It Again! Bought Another Glock, Texas Edition

Ha! A good friend of mine describes it just that way; you kind of show your age when talking about a screen door, though. That noise does go away after repeated shooting; my Glock 21 is as quiet as a church mouse now! That is probably the easiest way to tell if a Glock truly is 'like new' when...

    Which 9mm would you choose?

Congrats on the new piece! You'll get several lifetimes of use out of that 19! As much as people gripe out Glock and the way it looks or feels many come to choose the Glock after shooting them side by side with the other offerings. They aren't for everyone but when you like 'em you love 'em...

Finally getting an O/U B gun...Help me choose

That sounds good to me! I'm weather watching, too and it's killing me! We are due to start our Spring trap league today and the weather doesn't look good for a while...I don't know what I've done but the weather has not cooperated for my last 4 or 5 shoots! I shoot IDPA the first Saturday of...

Finally getting an O/U B gun...Help me choose

My 525 has that matte finish like you are talking about. It does pick up a bit of a patina or whatever they call it on Antiques Roadshow:D but it looks so good, more natural than 2" of gloss. Be sure to post how your clay bird hunt goes the next time you get out. I have had my 525 for 3...

Why not use the slide stop?

I'll echo what the others have said about it being a rough motor skill and it is universal with all autos. Since the slide release is in different places on different autos the overhand or powerstroke method is universal and can be used no matter what model of pistol you own.

Finally getting an O/U B gun...Help me choose

Great find. I'm partial to Browning over the Beretta but that is just based on my personal taste, I'd have no problem encouraging somebody to get either...or both! Those "B" guns are some of the best for the money and will last until your great-grandchildren are old. I bought a new Grade III/V...

    So I think I want a Glock ?

Some will tell you to get the Glock 29...Compact 10mm to lay a whoopin' on whatever comes your way. it's about the right size, just a tad wider than the 9mm/.40 cal sized frames but the right holster can help conceal even the largest autos. With the right shirt I can carry my Glock 21 OWB. The...

I think I want to try an M&P

I recently ordered an M&P9 Pro from Bud's and I cannot wait to get it out and see how she does. I love my Glocks and don't see that changing any time soon, but the M&P seems to have a bit better feel than the 9mm Glocks for me. I like the pronounced beaver tail on the M&P and the palm swell...

factory reloaded 9mm safe in what gun?

Well...it's only a reload if you tell Glock it was a reload. I mean, nobody has ever fired reloaded ammo in their guns, right? (that's sarcasm by the way) Every Glock I own has about 90% my personal reloads/10% factory ran through them. My Glock 21 is upwards of 3000 rounds of my own personal...

    Which 9mm would you choose?

I'd say you have a valid concern and until you either trust that your shirt cannot trip the trigger safety and push the trigger enough to fire it or get a new holster then you're best bet is to not IWB one. Much like carrying with one in the pipe, do what makes you comfortable. I carry IWB and...

    Glocks

I've shot both the XDm9 and my Glock 17 and 19 plus my friends 26. I chose the Glock because the trigger felt much better on the Glock and the Glock has a lower bore so it sets lower in the hand and seems to be better able to manage recoil and muzzle flip over the XDm. I've shot along side XDm9...

    Which 9mm would you choose?

The good news is as a shooter you are spoiled for choice when it comes to 9mm pistols! The one thing I don't know if anyone has mentioned as a possible selling point for a particular platform/make is the synergy some manufacturers have within their own pistol line. The Glock line is one of...

    Which 9mm would you choose?

I can't believe it took to post #48 for somebody to suggest the Glock 19. If you will make a total effort to go IWB or OWB and forget the pocket carry, the Glock 19 can be hidden with a good choice in holsters. I have larger hands and tend to prefer the full-sized pistols over the compacts but...

    Glocks

They are popular for a lot of reasons, mostly due to their well deserved reputation for reliability, customer service, price and performance. Many people dwell too much on the Glock's appearance or it's unusual feel but if you can get past other shooter's biased opinions and give the gun a...

    What does this mean?

FWIW, a bit of IDPA trivia, they use the ATF designation of the firearm to determine the division. Since the ATF considers the XD/XDm a single-action pistol it goes in ESP and the M&P is considered, by the ATF, a double-action then it goes into SSP...now whether Smith 'helped' convince people...

    What does this mean?

New guy here to THR The whole "2nd Strike Capability" just seems like a good marketing gimmick to get people to take a 2nd look at DAO and double-action/single-action autos. As the others have said before it is nothing new to the gun, just a new concept of 'pull the trigger again in the case of...
