I partnered up my Marlin SS 1894 44 Ltd with a S&W mod 29....nice combo.
We got the Marlin because we can't take handguns through Canada when we are on our Truck Camper trip. Nice compact rifle. How do you like yours?
That sliding back and forth clicking noise is pretty normal. You notice it more with the 44 mag because the cartridges are heavier. It happens more with very clean chambers.
I've noticed the problem you are describing in that type of speed loader. The rounds are not firm in the loader therefor slowing down the insertion. I have had better results though, using roundnose bullets with your type of speed loader. They seem to find the holes better than flat nose, or...
There's no excuse for that kind of workmanship. The only way for them to get the message is if people send stuff back. Sooner or later they will figure it's better to do it right the first time.
If you're good with that 2.5 66, heck give it a try. I'll bet you will impress yourself. Practice with your speed loader. They usually set up 5 targets so you do have an extra round if you miss one. If you have to reload, just do it methodically for the practice and shoot till you're...
I've logged a lot of woods time in SE Alaska and alway's felt secure enough with my S&W mod 29. I prefer a hip holster with a large flap that completely covers the gun. It keeps the gun nice and clean and dry and in one place. I've also used a shoulder holster but found that not as...
Colt Python, 4 inch.....bought in 1973. I think it was under $300.00. Shot thousands of rounds through it, packed it on hunting trips, motorcycle, and boating trips. Still tight.
Just take it out and shoot it. You will likely fall in love.
My wife can put six rounds in a group the size of a grapefruit at 50 feet.....double action. That's with a 66 no dash P/R 2.5 inch barrel. Standing, rapid fire.
Hmmm.....I own a 617 and it's a tack driver.
Maybe one of the experts will comment on your forcing cone issue. If I had to guess (not being an expert) I would think that it is machine marks you are seeing if they are not too deep. Get your hands on a "Lewis Lead Remover". It has a forcing...

Say P95, what's it like to shoot the 45-70? Heck I shot a marlin 45.70 this summer for the first time and it really kicked hard. I can't imagine what a handgun of that caliber would be like, but it must be brutal.
Well, you shot 600 rounds and then you got a "bad box" of ammo. The chances of that happening with "junk ammo" far exceeds the possibilty of it happening with premium ammo. Of course that is not a quarantee that it will never happen. That is what a back up gun is for. :D
And even so, you...
Crimp jumping is not an "everyday" occurence, but I would expect it to show up in cheap ammo, specially aluminum cases. I would not get too upset over this, just get some good ammo for defense purpose and test it. Save the junk for target shooting and expect less than stellar performance from it.
You can't go wrong with the 19. Go for the P/R one. I have vowed to get as many model 19's as I can afford in the future. I presently have a 66 no dash, which is the most accurate and easy to handle snub I own.
