    Hornady Case Feeder Question

One shot is no problem, doesn't make a mess of the press. The Lanolin homemade lube on the other hand makes s huge mess and gets sticky over time. I used it for years and just recently switched to an aerosol canola oil spray and it works great, no mess and very little required. It's also very...

Dented case shoulders. How much (if any) is acceptable?

I agree, too much lube or build up in the die. Clean the die to be sure. Shoot the brass, it will fire form out, but case life may be reduce. I would mark the cases that have those dents and anneal them after firing to possibly help extend the life.

    New press is in action

I added the optical decap sensor. If anyone ever buys one of these, get this sensor! It really should come with the machine but the $200 upgrade is well worth it. It stops the press from indexing to the next station if the primer did not completely decap. Without the sensor it would jam or...

    New press is in action

Resizing is done with trimming, I have a trim/size die where the trimmer is mounted. The lees die decaps, then it gets swaged, sized and trimmed, and then expanded.

In the video it's a full length die, but it's just the for the expander ball. I had ordered a new M die but it wasn't in yet.

Do You Wet Tumble Your Cases? Franford?

Stuck pins happen, I have been lucky with mine but I figured they changed the media size prior to my purchase since it has never happened to me. 3 pins jammed in the flash hole is rare I would think, as most pics and threads I have seen have had one or two. I wouldn't worry about it until it...

    New press is in action

I can tell you this whole project started because I was going to add a second progressive press, $400-$600. Two weeks later, I'm almost 8k into it and I'm still adding stuff. The caliber conversions for the 1050 are really expensive. Each one of those toolheads with a trimmer are over $600...

Lol, I just bought it. It's a Dillon press ran by a Mark 7 smart auto drive.

    New press is in action

Yeah, it varies and I don't run it anywhere near its full speed of 1,800 an hour. I probably average 1,200 an hour.

    New press is in action

Really just a few mins. Getting the trim die adjusted takes the longest as you need to cycle it and make small changes, and then test again after locking down the die and hoping it didn't move.

    New press is in action

Made a homemade toolhead stand for the Dillon 1050 toolheads. I was worried about having them laying around, and the stand from Dillon are $50 a piece. My original idea was to go horizontal on the bench or wall, but then I decided to go vertical to save bench space. I'm happy with it. My...

    New press is in action

Lol, basically. I need to lube and fill the case feeder, and just keep an eye on it. Last Friday I was going night fishing and had about 45 mins between getting home from work and needing to leave. I was able to pack the ice chest, get my gear together, load the truck and rigged some poles...

The trimmer takes 556 into it and trims it to the final length while forming and sizing into 300 blackout, then the M die expands the case mouth and flares it do a flat based bullet can seat on it.

    Shoulder bump

I recommend using a case gauge, and then adjust things for your particular firearms.

    Dillon Case Trimmer questions?

I have both the 1200 and the 1500, both work great. The 1500 is quieter and seems to run cooler.
