I prefer 357 in my 357 cause 38spl just doesn't have the same pop...
But I load 38spl in 125gr to +P and just a touch hotter (.1 or .2 gr more) and get enough zip to make it better... I like 158gr in 357 but in 38 it just seems weak...
Heavier bullets use less powder... factory 125 +P are...
The 3/3/3 rule is what most will encounter... Someone that is going to do you harm will usually do so by surprise.. SA revolver would be my last choice for SD...
SA 1911 in Condition 1.. better choice...
357 snubby SA/DA back up for 1911... get 'er done...
Been loading 38 and 357 with Unique for 20 plus years... 125 - 180gr .. used both standard and magnum primers... everything has gone bang with no surprises...
Oh wow.. Driderx.. If you hate the new Ruger so much, sell it... I have a Mark I, accurate... but the fact it doesn't stay open on last round is a bummer... but it's the 6 7/8" with target sights... sweet shooter... My other 22 is a Colt Woodsman Match Target Second Issue 6" my dad bought new...
Give away your position..? If you are pointing a gun with a laser at an armed perp, your gun should be fired already and if your hiding and not seen where is the threat... . If the perp is unarmed where is the threat..? Get real..I find these overthought situations funny at least...
I have Crimson Trace and night sights... I only find laser useful in very low light conditions... As home defense, the night sights level the gun the laser gives me general direction to the point of impact. In a real life and death situation (I hope I never face) instinct and practice is what...
Today I was at my local small gun dealer... He was transferring a gun received from another dealer (new gun .223).. the new owner pulled it out of the box and was looking it over.. pointing right at me.... I ducked away from the muzzle and he offered me a better look thinking that's why I was...
My 2 cents.... as mentioned above time is money.... if your a plinker and eat alot of ammo... you will save money but the cost of time barely outweighs the cost of factory ammo...
I load for my hand guns... I save $1000 a year on my 44 ammo alone... I also load 7mmTCU for my T/C Contender...
I am new to the forum. And realize this is an older thread, but I want to add my 2 cents.
I bought my BDA 380 new in 1985.. It has been my primary carry weapon since then.
As mentioned it is the best made automatic I have owned.('cept for my Colt Woodsman Match Target) Beautiful and well...
I never intend on pulling my weapon (and never have ) unless I am ready to fire.. I live on 12 acres and it is dark at night.. no lights...
With my night sights and my crimson laser grips... I can level the gun and aquire the target with my laser... BANG..!! BG down... I don't plan on giving...
In my thirty plus years as a gun owner, I have been in the sights many times.... On a couple of occasions I have ducked for cover. Other times I have grabbed the barrel and ducked...
At the gun range I am always looking left and right to see who is on the firing line and if they are...
My 2 cents.. Early guns (100 years and older) were made almost crudely but functioned. During the great industrial growth period (1900-about 60's) it seems that gun manufactures excelled in quality and a desire to produce fine guns..(near gunsmith custom built, S&W Colt, Browning) it is this era...
My Match Target is the best shooting 22 I have ever shot.... I can rest the hand grip on my sand bag and group 3" at 100 yards...
My dad bought it new in 1951.. I found it in the closet when I was 15.. put it together ( my dad figured I wouldn't be able to) and put 500 rounds through it.. came...
With all machinery development is always on going. It's not to say that "high mileage" new guns won't have their problems. I understand your point. My BDA 45 is a very low use gun... I have other guns for pleasure shooting... They all stay as new... So I feel confident in the response they will...
Colt Woodsman Match Target 6" Second Issue
My dads new, been my shooter for 40 years... Box, paper work.. Complete.. 100 yard plinker..
Browning BDA 45...and Tysons Corner P220 have both love em...
BDA 380 imported by Browning made by Fabrique Nationale real nice finish.. handles well...
Just picked up a BDA 45... Young man that worked for the forest service carried it as his side arm. Recently they no longer carry the 45's. So I found it in the local paper. No box.. But she is a beauty. 98%.. and he nearly gave it to me.. :) I also had a Tysons Corner P220.
Both very nice...
