I produced a video where I go over the LaGana VTAC from the American Tomahawk Company. I also compare it with the GI issue E-tool as they have about the same encumbrance, so I mention which one I think is more useful for one's loadout.

The 1911 pistol may be superior to the 1873 revolver (both being .45 caliber) as the 1911 pistol can be reloaded much faster. But the 1873 would be superior to the smaller caliber pistols that most people use for CCW.
Bullet diameter + bullet weight = the law of mass. The bigger, heavier bullets are going to hit hard.
My point is that a large caliber SA revolver is going to be a better weapon than a smaller caliber pistol.
Old Fluff,
The .44-40 and .45 Long Colt are man-killing calibers. Thus the single action revolver is a far better weapon than the smaller caliber weapons that most people choose for CCW.
Five rounds of large caliber, heavy cast, man-killing bullets is nothing to sneer at.

BTW, one is liable for every round they fire in a gunfight. Volume of fire might win a gunfight, but collateral damage will make one into a felon.
Just another point in favor or marksmanship over the irresponsible 'spray & pray' mentality.

I suppose that is the fashion these days.
Me, I get fist sized groups at the twenty five yard line.
I would count on a shot to center of mass. If it's a hardcase, then a double tap will drop 'em.
Main thing is marksmanship, hit's are what count. Do some research on that shootout. Alot of shots were fired, some came from 9mm pistols, but very few hit. I am thinking that the agents at the...
