Is that 1.2 OAL a typo mdv? I believe 1.169 is max OAL for 9mm. Please let me know of your progress.
I loaded 10 rounds to using the load listed above and hope to test them tomorrow. I am having some trouble obtaining a consistent cartridge OAL. I ranged between 1.128 and 1.132.
I appreciate the feedback from everyone. It was tough to find any frangible data elsewhere.
I'm more confident that I have a safe starting load of 4.5 gr. BE and an OAL of 1.13". It will be this weekend before I have time to work up a few test cartridges.
Thanks, Hammer.
According to the Midway website, "the bullet length is 0.595 and The 90gr. CTF bullets have a similar size and profile as a traditional 115gr full metal jacket bullet."
So OAL becomes another question along with the charge weight. I am thinking of using a starting point of...
I just got some Remington CTF Frangible Bullets 9mm Luger (355 Diameter) 90 Grain Flat Nose. The powder I have on hand is Bullseye or Unique.
I can't find any load data for this bullet. Any help would be appreciated.
Just getting started in loading again after a long absence. I could use some feedback on a similar load I worked up this week.
Berry plated 230 gr. roundnose bullets. I loaded 50 rounds with 4.5 gr Bullseye and 50 with 4.7 gr. Bullseye. OAL for all is 1.257. moderate to heavy taper crimp on...
The Hogue grips are nice. The recoil on my LCR 357 with full house loads stings my hand. Recoil on less powerful rounds is light.
I can't speak personally to the durability. I have shot about 400 rounds total of 38, 38 +p, and 357 through it. My research before purchasing the LCR led me to...
My LCR 357 is a handful when loaded with personal defense magnum cartridges. When shooting 38 +P the recoil is very manageable with the Hogue Tamer grip.
I bought it for conceal-ability and the smooth trigger. I am not disappointed on either issue.
The LCR is not ideal for handloaders. The...
I made my first cartridges in 18 years yesterday. Do these loads have enough powder?
.38 spl with 3.9 grains of Unique and 158 gr. LSWC. That is 10 percent under the charge of 4.3 gr listed on the Hercules load table. The table I used was printed in 1992. Components are that old also. Thanks.
I just bought the 50th Anniversary kit with the Lee Challenger press. The price was right. I haven't reloaded any cartridges since the early 90's. Maybe after I get back in the swing of things I will upgrade to a different press but maybe not. I only get to the range a couple times a month and...
