looks rough, I am no expert but I would not buy it in that condition but I would have to see the barrels and look closer for pitting. if that is surface rust then it may be salvagible.

I removed rust off of a maverick 88 and Ariska t-99 with 0000 steel wool and 3 in 1 oil. It took a lot of time but they look good, Well the T-99 does, the Maverick is my Dad's and I have not seen it since I worked on it years ago.
After research and though process i am going to go with a traditional style stock. I am going to see if my dad's old stock off of his maverik 88 fits the 500 for now. I think the speedfeed I is more my style.
