    Handgun Myths/Rumors/ Urban Legends

That it's possible to change someone's opinion about guns on the internet. "Don't need to clean it 'cause I never shot it." (pocket carry) over penetration energy dump one shot stop statistics... (The only 100% stopper was a black powder .38; Based on one shot) My kid can't find...

Fake "Gun Rights" Group Supports Gun Control - American Rifle & Pistol Assn

There has been some sites telling people about it good and bad. (mostly bad) The good is mostly uninformed with good intentions.

Multiple Illinois Counties no longer prosecuting concealed carry

Not prosecuting a non existing law is easy. There is no carry law. You cannot be prosecuted for concealed carrying. Because there isn't a law. It is still illegal to carry a loaded weapon in Illinois. :banghead:

Multiple Illinois Counties no longer prosecuting concealed carry

It's a good day for coffee. and it's four arrests for weapon violations... one a felony. Never arrested for anything else, and I have no record. but I do have a $2000 glock! :cuss:

Multiple Illinois Counties no longer prosecuting concealed carry

I find it odd that the State's Attorney now decides to stop prosecuting for something that HAS BEEN LEGAL for decades. Nowhere in the article did it mention a LOADED firearm... but it did mention that the sheriff would arrest you. I think what the State's Attorney is doing is acknowledging the...

Small radius firing pin stop for 1911s

"Black Army" I had to look it up, and it looks like Colt started making the 'black Army' pistols in the middle of 1918. So if the change to the radius was in January of 1918, there would be a few 'black Army' pistols with the small radius stop. (I think) So now I won't feel chagrined...

    1911 stuck firing pin

500 rounds on a gun with a part that is out of spec seems like a bad idea. A couple rounds to see what the primers look like maybe.

    Batoning is bogus

Once a year I go camping in up-state NY. The firewood is cut to length, and there are 'flats' from the log being made square at the mill. They don't burn well as is. They lay flay and snuff the fire. They are about an inck thick, and spliting with a knife is fast and easy for getting a pile of...

    Forgotten revolver tips and tricks.

Lets see if I can remember anything... Unlike an auto, if you have any part of a revolver, you have all of it. Smiths and Colts turn in opposite directions, and that's important for only loading a couple rounds. I seem to remember that squib loads are less dangerous because of the gap...

Illinois Assault Weapons Ban Proposed - NO GRANDFATHERING

Somewhere I still have the letter that the SA gave out to all local law enforcement. Basically it stated that although it was legal to transport a gun inside a car, arrest them anyway as it will be prosecuted. I should scan it and post it everywhere...

Illinois Assault Weapons Ban Proposed - NO GRANDFATHERING

Yeah... Unloaded. In a case. Zipped shut. Ammo somewhere else. AND still arrested for 'having a gun accessible' Three times so far. I've never tried the center consel or the glove box, but can guess what would happen... The first thing the DA does after a night in jail, is offer you a...

Why Must the Hammer be Cocked

It's a neat design, that shows input from more than one person. The fact that browning and Colt could make it work, and work well, and everyone was happy is awesome. It almost seems there should be a hammer spur OR a safety lever, but not both. Designing an entire pistol, then later adding a...

How far would have been far enough in gun technology?

The technology peaked more than 100 years ago. Since then it's all about refining those designs. Take apart a glock and you can see brownings design, and an AK looks like some other semi-autos from much earlier. Todays guns are based on designs from earlier. The Savage pistol that almost beat...

10 Circuit Court upholds ban on concealed Carry

There is a history of not scaring the populace also. Greeks were not allowed to wear their armor inside the cities, as it might alarm people. Having a weapon that is powerful AND easily concealed is, relatively speaking, a new thing. A dagger or a single shot pistol... Not as big of a deal...
