Roll of quarters / movie quote

While talking to someone about the old roll-of-quarters-in-your-fist trick recently, I had a hazy memory of a western I'd seen as a kid where this was employed. Wondering if anyone can help me place it. Two guys are getting ready to brawl, and the good guy (MAYYYYBE played by Lee Marvin)...

Smith to stake plunger tube on 1911 (ctl AL)

So, it's hunting season, seemingly the worst possible time to have a plunger tube work loose -- all the smiths are too busy to stake a new one on for you! Anyone know of a smith in the Birmingham area who would be willing to take on this five-minute job? Spending $40 for the tools for a...

Recommend: Denver area ranges and shops?

I'll be travelling to Denver next month, visiting a friend who wants to learn about guns. While there I'd like to take her to a range with a good selection of rentals. She is primarily interested in handguns, but I'd like for her to be able to try some long guns as well. Obviously we're...

    Lesson for the day (!)

    Attn: Birmingham-area reloaders

    Handled a BSS -- questions!

I saw a really nice looking 12ga BSS today. Looked gorgeous, no scratches or rust, beautiful rich matte blue, with nice but not spectacular wood. There was some very light powder fouling in the bore, but otherwise I'd have thought it was unfired. It's certainly been handled very carefully...

If you must give automatic weapons to idiots...

...at least give them 22s. Ah, Birmingham SWAT, a source of so much pride.

    Bad commercial ammo

First, the boring part, for context: I took my Kimber .45 out to the range Saturday. Ran through everything I'd brought with me: - 144 rounds of of WWB 230 FMJ - 20 rounds of Federal Hydrashok 230 Also six rounds of Silver Bear JHP from the guy in the next lane (traded for the other...
