The number one wrong mistake was that I aimed at his legs instead of center mass. I fired 3 rounds at his legs when he rushed me. All 3 missed. 4th round ended the attack. Standing in front of the door and not taking a defensive hard position was 2nd biggest mistake. 3rd mistake was not knowing...
I removed the picture. It was just over 10 years ago. My wife needed therapy at the time but is fine today. Thank you for asking. The detective in charge was amazing in helping us during that difficult time. Sadly, he was killed in the line of duty a few months later only a couple miles from our...
A bad guy did kick my door in at 4:00am. He was hopped up on meth and booze. He kept yelling that he was going to kill me. My wife was hiding upstairs talking to 911. I was trying to hold the door together waiting for the police to arrive. The door started to collapse so I stepped back, he...
Showing off my 686 with Sambar Stags... I don't see stags on many double actions. I think it looks handsome especially on stainless. The grips came on the revolver which I acquired years ago. Anyone have any knowledge as to what brand of grips these are? Value? Thanks.

I'm late to the party and the poll is closed. 4 shots total. 3 missed. 1 ended the threat. Home invasion. I made a lot of mistakes that night. Shooting 1000's of rounds at paper targets did not prepare me. Now I take classes and train properly.

Thanks for all the replies. This is good news as I do want to shoot it frequently. I just didn't want to shoot the hell out of something special and regret it when I found out.
Best to everyone,

I’ve been shopping for a used inexpensive 9mm “range” pistol. I found a Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 at my LGS. The gun store owner and I were not familiar with this model at all. It is in fine condition and appears to have not been fired often. It came with two mags. One mag looks new and the...
I just bought a used but like new 686-3 last week on GB. I paid about the same as a new one would cost. A new one is probably a better buy, but the -3 is what I desired.

Priceless when they get to come home earlier than anticipated. Just happened to me. Brought my new revolver home Friday instead of Monday. Only downfall was the weekend was short instead of long.

Mine is a pre-lock from the original run in the '90s. The newer runs have the locks. Only paid a couple hundred more than a regular. Never had to send it to a gunsmith for additional work/expense. Works perfect as is. More accurate than me. Came in an aluminum locking case with beautiful combat...
I would think that a revolver hand assembled with the additional fitting by a master gunsmith would be slightly more accurate than an assembly line revolver? The fit and finish is way nicer and the triggers are just amazing.
Reminds me of my wife before we had a home invasion last year. Now we have a security system that is armed at all times. She use to tease me by calling our boxer "LD" (last dog). Now she says that a dog is essential to home security. Before she was uncomfortable that I carried. Now as we leave...
Very fun plinker and I love to build / customize. I have a carbine and a long range tack driver. If not for you, then move on to something else. Have you entertained an AR10?
