45 Colt Ruger Vaquero and 2 different cylinder reamers

OK. I went to the range yesterday and here are the results. Target was set at 25' and it was an indoor range. C1 = .4505 OK accuracy, shot to basically point of aim. C2 = .4501 Not to good, but not terrible. C3 = .4500 Same as C2, maybe a little worse. C4 = .4505 OK accuracy, no flyers. C5...

45 Colt Ruger Vaquero and 2 different cylinder reamers

I am going to go shoot it tomorrow and I will do as Old Fuff said to do and shoot 6 different targets . (1 for each of my cylinder chambers) I hope that will tell the story in more detail. Would it be beneficial to lapp my bore before, after, or during my shoot, to help remedy this problem, or...

45 Colt Ruger Vaquero and 2 different cylinder reamers

I just slugged my bore and came up with some weird measurements. First off, I used a lead bullet that was .453 and I pushed it from the front of the barrel to the rear. I did it twice with 2 different bullets and came up with a measurement of .451 and .4507? That seems a little strange to me...

45 Colt Ruger Vaquero and 2 different cylinder reamers

I would like to to ream both of my Vaquero cylinder throats to a uniform measurement. I started looking at the reamers available and found that the 2 different manufacturers of the reamers (PTG & Manson) make them in 2 different diameters, .4525" and .4545". I would think that .4545 would be too...

Which lever action for home defense?

Get something in 45 colt and not 357 magnum. There are a better home defense ammo options in 45 colt, the right round will also minimize wall penetration, and its hella fun to shoot at the range. It is also not a problem to leave it loaded. my two. HS Rossi's are great rifles BTW.

    Best 45 L Colt rifle?

Cimarron 1860 Henry repro is the most accurate "out of the box" 45 Colt rifle I have, but my Interarms Rossi SRC BLL with a 16" barrel is way lighter, and I personally feel much more fun to shoot, and is also accurate. The 1860 is just a little better at reaching out and touching ya', and dont...

    Which AR to buy?

DPMS makes great AR platform rifles and parts. I would do yourself the favor of looking into them as well as the others. When it comes right down to it though, you really need to put your hands on the different rifles to really know. It is hard to do all your research online. Good luck! HS

What's the oldest gun you own ?

I have an Ithaca Flues 1 1/2 grade sxs that is a 1913 model that I bought. Whats more is I still shoot it, with Polywad Vintagers,(of course) and I freakin' love that shotgun. Nothing is better than still being able to enjoy something that is almost 100 years old. I only wish guns could talk. HS
