As a side note, .38 Super frequently comes loaded in nickel plated cases. What's cool about that, is it's easy to find your own brass at the range or match without accidentally picking up a bunch of 9mm brass. :)

Recoil is about what you would expect for a small lightweight gun but not unmanageable. I shot some IDPA matches with mine last year and really didn't notice the recoil. If you're going to shoot 300 rounds at the range one after the other, you'll notice the recoil. ;)

I shoot and then reload a lot of S&B in 9mm and .40SW. I've never had any problems at all reloading the cases.

I shoot both IDPA (SSP, ESP, SSR) and USPSA (Prod, Lim, and Lim10) and I got to say that I enjoy shooting a Glock22 with a few modifications and 18 rd mags in Limited the most. I'm not worth a nickle in any of them, but I do have a lot of fun. :)

Just like Dave says; mine is generally noisy and has lots of flash with W231 reloads. Recoil, however, is pretty mild.

I bought a Colt Super .38 a few years and this year decided to shoot ESP class in IDPA with it. I've only shot one match with it so far but I think I'm going to like it. Ammo runs about $10-11/box, but it's easy to reload.

I just went there, and a russian language pop-up appeared along with a partial FNHipower screen. My browser also was getting redirects from sites with a .ru domain.

My J-frame has the "J" in the middle of the serial # as in 56Jxxx. The serial# is on the butt and always assumed the date of manufacture to be around 1971. BTW, the gun is NIB, unfired. ;)
