Ruger Mini 14: Good AR alternative?

LMAO, wow. There is no reason to stoop to entry level junk when one can purchase a quality rifle for less unless the stated goal was to just own an AR. Jease.

    M9 and US Service Pistols

A 9mm didn't immediately take down a Gazelle? Imagine that, I doubt a .45 would fair much better. Maybe Glock or Kahr 9mm would have done better?

    M9 and US Service Pistols

This was my reason for moving away from a M9 for personal use, the dang lever in of itself and then, secondary, the position of it. Freaking nightmare with my hands for presenting the weapon.

    M9 and US Service Pistols

The M9 is an excellent sidearm. Military personnel don't have the luxury to pick and choose what they are issued, they learn the weapon. Civilians can and it is a bit laughable at some the opinions etc. voiced about weapons, specs, ammo, blah and blah. If you can't or don't know how to use it it...

    Next Joint Combat Pistol

Nice summary and to the point, nothing is significantly better.

    Next Joint Combat Pistol

Yeah, they don't train anyone how to properly handle a weapon. To even qualify with a weapon gents usually have dry fire more than most will do in a lifetime.

    Looking for affordable first AR

IMO. Cheap go Stag, good rifle. Expensive go Colt, good rifle w/ resale if you decide to trade up. I really can't offer much more to the excellent analysis already presented.

You probably did not see any Sig's in those pictures because the poster was attempting demonstrate that somebody somewhere is using Glock's. Weird.

    Grease better than oil?

I never saw anything else except for an occasional can of LSA for a SAW, I think it was procured from the M2 guys. Additionally, that is all that was authorized to clean a weapon, at least a M9, M16, and M249, although sometimes the armourers would put out a dunk tank of some solvent. Not...

    Grease better than oil?

Teflon = PTFE, I doubt that cooks off to easily, but it is just a small part percentage of CLP. Firing enough rounds and you can smell that stuff cooking, not that this bad, just meant there was bit wet. On the windy, dry, sandy, dirty environment, the weapon doesn't have to be dripping, just...

    Grease better than oil?

I really wouldn't depend too much on the residual teflon left behind by CLP, the weapon may run but not for long and it will be pain to clean as well. CLP will evaporate and cook off. IMO, if you using just CLP you want it visibly wet. If during a long range session you start seeing some dry...

I think my hand and the p229 just formed relationship I wasn't planning on.

@ don, that Platinum elite is slick. Anyhow, hit the range today. Prior I cleaned and lubed the heck out my P229, 180 rounds and no issue, I am hitting POA much better and am very happy with this weapon, top shelf piece of machinery.

    124gr 9mm Federal American Eagle

Thanks gents. I got it for $.20 a round, I was looking for some decent 124gr to practice with, all I could find in that range was 115, like I said I researched it a bit and seemed go to go, but was concerned with the indoor range low lead and if it makes a difference.
