I understand Weatherby released the Series 2 Vangaurd to recitify minor issues with the earlier Howa Vangaurd. Local seller has a NOS Series 1 in 308, 24" barrel standard synthetic stock and wants $400. Original case and box. Unfired. Seem high to me. Weren't these $350 new? In the big picture...
This has been a been a long running, front page series in The Seattle Times on range lead exposure. Mostly related to LE. Article below from Sunday. Has links to previous stores and today's articles.

California is expanding lead-free zones. So I'm going to need to convert to copper and Nosler E-tip seems like a logical choice as my 30-06's are dialed in with handloads using 165 & 180g ballistic tips and accubonds. Both of which pretty much have the same point of impacts between the bullet...
Anybody here use A-Max for hunting? These are match quality rounds with hollow points and polymer tips specifically designed for punching paper accurately. Hornady advises to not use for hunting but they seem to be popular for such, particularly in Australia. I'd never risk all the time, cost...
My local Cabelas has 4 gently used 30-06 Pro Hunters for decent prices. I'm in the market for a good bolt gun (all I shoot / handload are 30-06 & .308). Pricing is in the mid 600's. What people's opinions on these budget Mannlichers? I've been to their factory so I kinda have a fondness for...
I recall a post here (?) where somebody was talking about a simple modification to a Lee bullet seating (?) die to achieve the same thing as what the Lee Bulge Buster does. Anybody know this trick?
So, speaking theoretically, what if you buy a firearm online, give the seller your FFL's info, the seller sends you the tracking info and you notice they shipped it to your house by mistake. What are you supposed to do? Refuse the shipment?
Have you given up on a SD caliber? And if so, what caliber did you return to. For example, stopped carrying 45 ACP because of magazine capacity or cost, then went back to 9mm +P.
Looks like some people are sneaking reloading bullets on ebay.

Shooting out to 25 yards ... anybody have any recommendations for a consistent / accurate load? Best so far for me is 165g Speer TMJ with a mid range load of power pistol, but accuracy is bad compared to my 9mms and 357 (no surprise its not as good .. but 40 is roughly 4 times worse than 9mm...
Can anybody reference a change in US gun laws where owners of weapons banned by new law had to turn in their guns, versus being grandfathered in?
San Francisco Prop h was an attempt to make residents turn in handguns that were banned, but it was thrown out...
Spent a long day at the range to determine best load for 150g. Below shows 200-yard accuracy results for 150g. 5-shot groups. The specs follows.
Remington 760 30-06 pump with 3-9x40 scope shot from the bench rest.
All loads with FC brass, trimmed to same case length. Neck sized. All...
What powder has the least flexibility. In other words, works well with the fewest variety of calibers and bullet weights. Excluding the 50 BMG powders. W296 seems to be a candidate (357, 41 & 44 mag).
Has anybody handled, shot or bought one these yet? Seems pretty cool but I've heard its got quite a bit of plastic on it. Going for $299 at the local Big5.
But might be better to buy one of Sarco 10/22 conversion stocks for $99 to get better quality.

I've been doing some varmint hunting with 165grain 30-06. 200 - 300 yards out. Damage to the vermin is extensive of course.
Would like to try a flatter shooting combo for '06 that's not quite so destructive. Have not spent much time with 125 grain spitzers but, looking at trajectory...
Hirtenberger L7A1 SMG Ammo. I shot some of this when overseas. Very hot (45000 PSI?). Supposedly over 1500 FPS with a 124g FMJ. Looking for a duplicate load for my Uzi & Sterling. Anybody have anything close? I'm not sure its imported any more (see below). Thanks
"Department of the...
