    Lyman All American press rebuild

Hi spcrobbins, Congrats on your Lyman All American press. I think it is one of the best presses ever made. See my post on rebuilding the same press. Why are you going to hand prime? It really slow the process down and the Lyman press has a precise adjustment for primer depth. It really works...

portable shooting bench Hi Skivvy, For a portable bench you might try a very old idea. An old wooden ironing board. I found one in the tank house at my old ranch. It is large, about 16 inches wide. Most important, it has a metal bail gizmo that locks the underside and makes the "table" very...

    44 mag load too much?

I agree with Grumulkin. One thing to note, at close range you will not be able to tell the difference between the loads. 100 or even 200 fps at magnum velocities will result in the same damage. Bullet placement is still paramount. If you miss the charging bear's brain by a few inches he will...

case lube Hi, try castor oil. Just a trace on the case or the fingers that handle it works easily. I have used this (available from pharmacys) for many decades and it seems easy to clean off. Wipe with a dry cloth or a little solvent or WD40 on the rag works to clean it easy.

    Blue Dot

You have a half can of one of the best powders ever made. Blue dot is a shotgun powder but it is superb for medium to 3/4 loads for magnum pistols. For 44 Mag I use 15 grains behind a 240 gr Keith. Lovely. For 357 mag I use 9 grains behind a 150-158 gr gas check. If you would look over the...

    Lyman All American press rebuild

Hi folks, there has been a lot of discussion about the Lyman All American press (LAA) over the last few months. I would like to add my two cents worth in case someone is thinking about one. First of all, have you noticed the price recently? Six months ago you could buy one for $40-60. Now they...
