    Shooting with wife/signifigant other

My wife doesn't care much for shooting at the range. A girlfriend from years ago however was completely different. Once I figured out she got horny when she fired weapons, well you can figure out what I did.

Now evaluating if I want guns any more....please read

Consider just locking them for a month or a year, out of sight. There is no reason you have to answer this right now. Give it some time to recover first, and good luck to you.

    What is your range uniform?

Usually just jeans, boots, and whatever else is appropriate for the weather. A couple weeks ago, I had to spend lunch in a small mountain town between morning and afternoon court appearances. I went up a crazy steep road a couple miles to the range above town and did some shooting in my...

My wife say she wants a "pretty" rifle.......HELP!!

I'm getting something like this 10/22 soon for my daughter once I'm convinced she has outgrown the BB gun. She might want the purple version instead. Either way, it is going to be "pretty" enough for her to take pride in it and to treat it well. I'm doing my best to raise her right. Ruger...

    Dogs at the Range?

I can frequently find the local range in the national forest empty. The last time I went, there was a couple guys with their dog. The dog was kept back from the firing line, but the dog was obviously not liking the gunfire. What bothered me more was they were drinking beer while shooting.

Did you start out on a .22lr?

One of my buds took me out shooting when I was a teenager. He had a 22 and a 12 gauge. I have no idea what make/model. I still stick to these if I ever have to sell the guns. I'd keep the 22 and my 12 gauge.

    Oh Dad...

It might have been 30 years ago, but I can still hear his voice, and he's been dead almost 20 years. "Son, I want to talk to you about that gun you have" is how the conversation started. My dad never fired a gun. He didn't like them even though he grew up out in the middle of the...

Buy Guns Not Gold- A Better Investment / GunsAmerica blog

Tangible assets such as more lead for the steel I already have. Now I just need a crystal ball so I can max my credit at the right time, cause I don't want to be a slave to a bank just waiting.

    CCW D'OH! moments

My family with the in-laws were just getting seated at a restaurant when the previous person came up visibly shaken, asking if there was a jacket they had left in the corner of the booth. It was right next to me. The jacket was dark and blended in with the color of the upholstery so nobody...

Hundreds of Thousands Disarmed by ATF Ruling

While it might be available, it doesn't mean that it is affordable. I had a judge tell my client that he could not use medicinally while on probation (for a non-drug offense), at least until he'd tried Marinol and found it ineffective. Problem was it costs $900 per month for the pills. It...

When and what age did you buy your first gun?

I had a BB pistol way back when I was a kid. I've used shotguns and rifles before, but never owned anything until my 40s.

    Ammo Prices Not Going Down

The best investment these days is lead, so my friend says (the paranoid one referred to elsewhere on THR). I don't have money to invest in gold or anything else, so I'm finding myself in agreement.

    Cash or Plastic

Thanks for the info everyone. I ordinarily use cash for haircuts only, because my barber doesn't take credit cards. I also get cash back on my credit card purchases, (I got 1.3k back recently), so I'll be using credit cards for nearly everything. On one hand, I'd like to think that worrying...

    Cash or Plastic

A friend of mine called me up last weekend asking whether I wanted to go with him to Harbor Freight and Cabela's afterward. He just gotten paid, and had his pocket full of money. I had finished stacking my firewood for the winter, and was so ready to be not stacking wood that his offer to buy...

Should rule two be revised or reworded?

It is a good rule, to treat every gun as if it is loaded. Even if you just unloaded it yourself. Really, what is the point of talking about this. Don't fix what isn't broken.

Here is a good one about Massachusetts

Gideon v. Wainwright was the case where SCOTUS held that anyone accused of criminal charges is entitled to have an attorney. G v. W was a 6th Amendment case. Rights to confront your accuser, to testify or to keep silent, to have the government make its case without assistance from the...

Does/can CA prevent residents from making out of state long gun purchases?

And it still requires the 10 day wait.

    Your military rifle's past…

I've admired a friend's Mauser, captured in Vietnam. It still has the tag. Odds are good it was used as intended numerous times. That is part of the allure, wondering about the history of any particular war rifle.

    Walgreens

I just saw today that Walgreens carries accidental death insurance on its employees. For purposes of posting here, I'm going to assume here that "accidental" in the insurance policy covers criminal acts, which are generally considered "unforeseeable" acts as defined by insurance companies...

Home defense with childern in the house

As I read over this thread, I was agreeing for the most part about wall reinforcement of some sort. But now I have a question, for clarification of the original question. Are your kids rooms down a hallway, where any shots would be fired from a narrow angle to the hallway wall? Or would the...
