    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

To : Caribou. The last casing that ejected had a crack that ran from the edge of the top, to midway down the round. Since I've gotten the new bolt installed, and headspace checked, the rifle no longer has these performance issues. It cycles perfectly, and ejects perfectly. It launches brass...

    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

I usually allow the rifle to cool down between targets. The maximum I shoot is 10 rounds per target, and those rounds are spaced out, not quick shots. I am trying for accuracy, not speed at this point.

Actually, I thought it went without saying that one would check the bore. When you pull the bolt back, it ejects the round. At that point, all I saw was a dented primer the first time, and this being 30 plus year old ammunition, my first thought was it was a bad round. Before I took this thing...

ND- I am now 'that guy'

Thankfully I have never had an ND. However, I expect that there will be a day when it happens. As long as you know it can happen, you'll be vigilant enough to make sure it doesn't.

How did they keep balls from creeping forward riding a horse

My juvenile self will refrain from comment. Yeah, I'm definitely going to not make any jokes.

    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

Okay folks, here's the FINAL word on my rifle. I took it to the smith, and he saw that the rail for the bolt and extractor was dinged up pretty good. He suspects there was a hot load in the mix. I have a new bolt. He checked the headspace, and the rifle functions better than ever. Cycles...

    Purchase Denied

The reason why the SS# is optional, is because SS itself is optional. You can opt out citing religious reasons. There are people of the older generations that never had a Social Security number, who still purchase firearms.

Why the hate on the flying brass?

My PSL ejects brass, and I kid you not, about 20 feet. A friend of mine were shooting, and we went to pick up our brass, and his were about 7 feet away while mine were half way down the concourse. I'm making an aftermarket brass catcher for my rifle. If you have a PSL, and have a similar...

    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

Okay folks, here's the latest news on my rifle. I was with a buddy, and we were shooting. I figured, since the firing pin / bolt issue was dealt with, I'd try running more of the Romanian ammunition through the rifle again, because after a conversation with a gunsmith, they seemed to think it...

    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

I honestly do not believe it's the ammunition at all now for the simple fact that shards of metal that came out, were bigger than the hole in the bolt where the firing pin comes through. I wish I could find the previous owner and dispense a proper beating. One other little thing. The fore...

    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

We took it to the range yesterday and I got 59 rounds through it without one hiccup. Then it didn't eject the brass properly. Fired one more round, it was fine. The thing is, this rifle shoots phenomenally well. Truly one of the most accurate rifles I've ever shot. The bolt seems fine for...

    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

Actually, after going to my gun shop the mystery metal was found. Here's the thing. There are 2 pins that hold the firing pin in place, and the extractor and spring in place. When I took the pin for the extractor out, I noticed that the pin had an end that wasn't flat, but had kind of half...

    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

In all honesty I couldn't tell you where it came from. It's not steel as a magnet won't draw it up. It's Aluminum I think. It's not from any of the parts of the weapon itself. No idea where it came from or what it is.

    Romanian 7.62 x 54R ammunition issues.

Bought 2 tins of surplus Romanian Steel Core rounds from my local Fleet Farm. I thought, Hey, what a deal! I proceeded to put them through my PSL, which digested them just fine... At first. These are 148 grain rounds, nothing special, just military surplus. Today I was at the range, with my...

What do you guys consider a good group at 500 yards

At 300 yards I was managing at the end of my shooting to put together a 2" grouping. Of course I spent 4 hours at the range, and at first It wasn't that good. Once I got it dialed in from the Dirt, and onto paper, it was quite easy. I'll be lucky to do that well at 500 yards.

    draganov accuracy?

I zeroed my PSL today at the range. at 300 yards I was putting 2" groups with minimal fuss. Although it was tough at first to shoot consistently, I got the feel for it fairly quickly, and it was uncannily accurate once I got comfortable with it. I love it, and will never part with it.

All purpose, defense, fun to take to the range rifle?

I have a Romak 3, or PSL. I bought it on the cheap, it was a consignment. Turns out the clod who parted with it, complained about how he couldn't zero it. I spent today zeroing my PSL. It took about 20 rounds to put it on track. I spent the next 4 hours putting 2" groups at 300 yards...

Move to Libya to exercise 2nd amendment?

As far as I can tell, Nobody deserves a full on invasion. Unless we can get together a good block party in my neighborhood. Then that would be okay.

Move to Libya to exercise 2nd amendment?

I'm of the mind that what we need to do, is take a page out of the book the writers of "Fido" used. If you see the movie, the kids are taught from the beginning that firearms are our friends. It's the kind of world I dream of living in some day. So what if legions of the walking dead want to...
