What's a good holster for non belted pants

.06-,08" doesn't sound right either....pretty thin. I believe most holster makers are about .125" (8oz.)....where 6-8mil doesn't work either. Maybe just too early in the morning for math.....

Gene, I can't take credit for that one, I was asked to do something similar for a S&W .500 and I found that picture on the web while I was researching.

    belts

Good advise JTQ...also...horsehide is gonna be tough to get in a length required to make a belt for a 320 lb. man....of course, splicing a couple straps could be an option.

    Left handed vs Right handed

I have molded a bit of a dome, or cavity over the mag release area while the leather was still wet. It seems to work pretty well.

Something like the Sneaky Pete for a snub ...

I've made my version of one...sorry, no pix...but it will be very close to 7" x 4.5" x 1-1/2" It makes for quite a box mounted to your side, IMO.

In love with full flap holsters. Guess I'm odd.

Tall...I've never needed to be told "thanks" I did what I believe everyone should do, serve his country.....but thanks:) That aside, I'm sure you know by now, that if you line up 12 leather workers and ask them the same " how do you do this....." type of question, you're very likely to get 12...

    Concealing a 4" GP100

Warp...ever try cross-draw carry? I find it more comfy for a bulky gun like the GP100....especially while driving. Also.....this is why Hawaiian shirts will never go out of style round my house....loose fitting, hangs well over the piece, and the printed material helps camouflage...

In love with full flap holsters. Guess I'm odd.

Tall-Don....there's a bit of a trick when using two layers of veg tan in making a fold-over type holster. You can't just take two layers and glue them while still flat. You'll get an ugly pucker-upper on the inside of the fold. You have to pre-form the outer shell somewhat at the fold, then...

In love with full flap holsters. Guess I'm odd.

"Military holsters that I've seen have rarely if ever been lined with soft, caressing leather," Tall.....I know for a fact, because I've been there, carrying in a military/combat situation, lining in a holster was a waste of time and expense. A snap, dust, dirt, rubbing against bluing (if...

In love with full flap holsters. Guess I'm odd.

I look forward to checking out your designs. What do you plan to use for lining? I think using two layers of 4/5oz, glued flesh to flesh make for great looking holsters that you speak of.

    Cowhide or Horsehide??

Horsehide won't absorb sweat as readily as cow, if that might be a concern....after that, not much of a difference with this rig.
