Ike was President when I started shooting, I was so small that my dad had to help me by holding up the gun barrel while I aimed and squeezed the trigger. I must of been about 4 or 5 years old.
I use these in a Ruger Single Six to dispatch trapped raccoons, our neighborhood is overrun with them. The sound level is about the same as a firecracker and a single shot to the head puts them down quickly. When I've put these rounds on paper I've noticed some key holeing but of course when I...
I picked one up from Buds about two weeks ago. The action was very dry and thus very stiff. I oiled it up and cycled it a couple of hundred times and it settled right in.
I have a Type 94 Nambu pistol that my father acquired in WWII. If I remember correctly it has a date stamp that translates to April 1945. My father was in the 1st Cav Division and was stationed in Tokyo during 1945-1946 as an occupation troop, I believe that he acquired it there.
I've used a Steiner 2311 8x22 Miniscope Monocular for about 20 years. Fits in my shirt pocket and has decent optics. I've used it for hunting, bird watching, scouting properties, and checking out distant highway signs.
A couple of years ago I was at an indoor range in South Houston. I was in the next to last lane and a young man was in the last lane with his girlfriend. He was teaching her how to shoot a .45 ACP pistol. He was doing mag dumps and managing to shoot the wall, ceiling, floor and my target in the...
Hey Balerclev,
Glad to see that you survived. I went to college at Southern State College in Magnolia just a short drive from Eldorado. The first week of my freshman year I was in gym class where the coach was giving us boys a lecture about gym safety. He recounted an incident of a student in...
I just picked up my S&W Model 10-5 from a local pawn shop that I use for transfers. It locks up tight as a drum and the action is excellent! The finish shows a lot of holster wear and the grips need refinishing. I may just pop on down to my local indoor range in the next day or two and use up...
I got the same message today regarding a brick of .22 Mag that I ordered a year ago, their web page says that the manufacturer hasn't delivered and they have no projected delivery date. I guess that the .22 shortage isn't quiet over yet even though I am seeing more ammo on the shelves around here.
Here is a quick picture of my two Model 13s. They are both wearing Hogue grips but I have the original stocks put away for safe keeping. I use the Hogues as I have huge hands and cannot keep a decent grip on them otherwise.
I am a big fan of S&W K frames and Buds has 3" pinned barrel Model 10s available. I've ordered one to join ranks with my two 3" S&W Model 13s. If the finish is too rough for my taste I may consider having it refinished. Would it be worth contacting Smith and Wesson to see about getting it...

A couple of years ago I picked up a Ruger Single Six, it was missing the mag cylinder, for $175.00 in a little gun shop near Waco. It looked like it had lived its entire life in a drawer as the wooden grips were a little dinged up but otherwise seemed to have been used very little. I spent...
I wonder how the Browning 1911-380 will compare to the Rock Island Armory A380 Baby Rock? Here is a link that has a quick preview of the RIA A380.

A drop of the blue Loctite may prevent this in the future if it seems to be a reoccurring problem. Stay away from the red Loctite as it is permanent.
That being said, I've shot my Ruger Blackhawk .357 many thousands of times and have never noticed anything loosening up but maybe I should give...
I recently removed a red dot sight from my Super Blackhawk. As previously mentioned, your existing holsters will not fit after adding a scope/optical sight, the weight increases noticeably, and the one thing that I didn't expect is that the red dot sight acted like a sail in a crosswind and at...
In reference to changing out the guts of a magazine, I've changed out the springs and follower on an occasional mag with Wilson Combat springs and followers and have been extremely happy with the results. It is a easy and inexpensive way to make a crappy mag reliable as long as the feed lips are...
