The most important kaboom in revolver history

I mean, you absolutely can use it. It just has to be the right burn rate and right ammount of powder. The reason people blow up muzzleloaders today is the same reason people blew up guns when smokeless powder first came out. They substituted smokeless for black, weight for weight. There's no...

    Taurus 445 44spl

I have a Taurus Titanium. Great gun. $400 is incredibly cheap for one. Unless there is something visibly wrong with it, I'd have thrown my wallet at them so hard they'd be at risk of a concussion. As far as I'm concerned, this is a "Cake or Death" question. :p

    Rossi circuit judge rife?

Are you referring to the 44 mag and 22 LR/22 Mag ones? If so, the fatal problem with them is that thry were made with barrel throats that are unacceptably oversize in order to eliminate lead spitting from the barrel/cylinder gap. Which is stupid, since they have the shields to catch that. How...

Primary Arms SLx 3X vs their MicroPrism version?

How are you supposed to keep dust, rain, and other gunk off the lenses of that small one? That's my biggest thought and concern. There's a reason virtually every LPVO includes flip lens caps. The lack of easy covering is a pretty big negative in my book. The small one doesn't list the objective...

    Thompson Center Arms SOLD

G1 frame has a better trigger, but people couldn't stop shooting themselves with it. The amount of force needed to open it vs a G2 is a bit annoying.

    Thompson Center Arms SOLD

Barrels are readily available from several manufacturers and often similar cost to what eBay barrels go for.

    7.62x39

You don't want to see the things we did to some of those rifles, because they were just cheap guns back then.

    360 buckhammer ammo?

In a decades time the Buckhammer brass will be just as available as 375 Winchester. Leaving you in the same place. There's nothing stopping these companies from making a lever gun in 357 Maximum. This all reminds me of the super short magnum craze during the 2000s. Many of those guns are now...

    360 buckhammer ammo?

So it's the cartridge equivalent of a California compliant AR-15. Something with no real driving purpose beyond skirting a rule and something that will cease to exist the moment the rules are changed.

    .357 Magnum Rifle

The only flaw with this is that 357 Magnum in a Maximum chamber has "Don't even bother" accuracy levels. In my experience at least.

    360 buckhammer ammo?

I've wondered why this cartridge exists when we have the 375 Winchester and 357 Maximum already? :scrutiny:

    New at annealing question

I used Tempilaq to start with, but I eventually moved to using flame color/brass just barely starting to glow with all lights off. Works just as good for my purposes and is much faster. You need to adjust the timer every time you use the unit. Things won't be exactly the same each time...

Very nice. Standing shooting isn't easy.

I have a dilemma... trade into a like new ruger blackhawk stainless 10mm/.40 s&W

The 10mm/40S&W go for $1000 on gunbroker... IF you can find one for sale.

    Lubricant for carbide dies?

I use tumble lubed bullets and some rubs off onto my hand, so I just rub my finger on the case.

I prefer the Lee 140 grain SWC.

    4x vs 6x

I picked up a used RT6 at the gunshow and already plan on swapping out the Vortex 1-6 I have right now on my Mini-14. Other than the Vortex stowing an extra battery, I like the RT6 image much better as well as the illumination controls.

Rifle optics: a blue collar spending perspective for cost / benefit

    * Looks at my $300 Savage with a $2,000 NVD on it. * /It's a clip-on, so I can move it between guns.

Rifle optics: a blue collar spending perspective for cost / benefit

This is known as "Buy Once, Cry Once" and is sound advice. Fixed power scopes are such a forgotten gem. Old fixed power Japanese and Korean Tasco scopes are relatively inexpensive on ebay, but have bright and clear glass. Fixed power Leupold scopes are an absolute delight. The LPVO trend...

    calling 22 hornet guys

You bring up a good point. It's not a matter of the Hornet being harder to load. It's a matter of other cartridges being more tolerant of sloppy loading. Put a bullet in a 223 a little wonky and it will still seat just fine. As long as you're not trying to seat a bullet sideways at least. 22...
