Yep, spring and lube. Be careful with the DW's when breaking them in. If not properly lubed these Stainless steel guns can develop galling issues. FP-10 lube works real well to prevent this. Lube the snot outa the rails.
I second JimKirk, when I had my P3AT I did extensive ballistic testing of my own with several different loads. That Corbon DPX with the solid copper bullet was the only one I had any faith in, good 1000+ velocity and those solid copper bullets penetrate much farther than a comparable lead core...
Sounds about right, most plinking 45colt loads are in the 800fps range with a longer barrel, 650 is probably about as good as it gets for that short a barrel unless you think your gun can handle "ruger" loads through it.
I recently got a Les Baer Custom Concept III from a guy on here and I'm in love, awesome gun. See why people pay a premium for a semi-custom 1911. Just got a DW CBOB as well, haven't shot it but if it shoots as good as it looks I'll have another keeper.
Doubletap has a 230gr HP Gold Dot load that clocks 1014fps. Been using for carry ammo for awhile now. Supposedly it's not a +P loading either. It definetly feels warm but I always get good expansion out of that 230gr GD.
Nope, sometimes I feel like being a crack addict would be a cheaper habit! Best I can tell you is to become good with the guns you already have before jumping off into something else. It'll save you some money down the road.
The all-steel witness ain't light, it will soak up the recoil just fine. With full power 10mm loads it will SOUND like a cannon though. +1 on going to a heavier 22lb recoil spring if shooting full power 10's. It will still zing brass into the next county.:)
As others have said, if you can pay a little more for the Witness Match. Heck of a deal for sub $500, the fancy case it comes in is worth a $100 more by itself.:D
Ruger's .454 six shooter is more than strong enough, as I recall they proof test the loads at 90,000psi, the .454's max saami pressure a "puny" 65,000psi ain't gonna hurt that gun. Heard of issues in the Taurus's though. I don't deny that the 460 has more oompth but it ain't by much unless...
Actually Baer's seem to be the value leader of the semi-custom's, most of the Ed Brown's and Wilson's are two or three hundred more than the Baers.
"Bluing was painted on", um, OK.
Yep, our only chance I possibly left is to call the Governor's office and request he call a special session. Tell the phone operator that these bills made it through committee, are very important to Texans, and deserve a vote, also remind them you know Mr. Perry is coming up on a re-election.
Lawyers, though the Ruger is a little bit different animal than other decocker pistols. The decocker actually moves the firing pin forward instead of "blocking" the trigger. Still, I'd never own a gun that was never made to carry one down the pipe when needed. Good gun though, I may sell mine...
Sounds like it's just very tight. These things are tight, tight when new! While no doubt they're reliable if your wanting one for carry you may want to look at one a little looser like a Dan Wesson CBOB or even the Ed Brown Kobra carry. Brown's are known to be accurate but looser than the Baer's.
