    Converting a 310 Cadet?

My 310 takes 32.20 straight from the packet, without any alteration but handloading to rifle specs gets the best out of it. They are neat little guns, mine gets used for rabbits, goats and possums. Even though the aussies made jacketed bullets during ww2 for them, I wouldn't shoot them as barrel...

    CFE replacement?

I have a badly copper fouled 223, that I have been trying to clean conventionally with little success. Hogdons cfe powder is hard to find here plus pricy, so Ive been wondering. Long ago while in the artillery, the no5 charge bag in our 105 ammunition had a tinfoil liner that was intended to...

    Pig rifle

An sks works real well, that 7.62x39 round really punches above it's weight. The rifles solid enough to club them to death if you need to, and ammunition is readily available, I just use steel case stuff. Only drawback imo is the difficulty of mounting optics. My fav rifle out to 150 yds used to...

What cast bullet would you recommend for deer in .308?

Lead 308s I have hunted with cast bullets for over 25 years, favourite mould in 30 cal is the Lyman 31141, 175 gr flat nose followed by a lee 180gr rn. My casts come out at 180 185 gr depending on alloy for the lyman, and 170 175 for the lee. The lyman mould is fiddly to get casting properly...

    6.5 swedish

Well it works, never really had any doubt, 140 gr sierra game king on 34gr of ar 2208, from 150 metres with the irons, really pleased. Not super fast, but did the business.

    6.5 swedish

I have just decided to reload for my 6.5, it's a 1943 husquvarna m38 I have accumulated a load of Norma brass, that measured 2750fps with the 140 gr nosler. My ADI reloading manual peaks out at 2500 for AR2208 with 36 grains and a case not quite 2/3 full for a 140 gr pill. I have heard people...

Zastava M85 in 7.62x39mm - abbreviated range report

I've had a m85 in 223 for around 7 years now, and love it. Only criticism is that the mag is slow to load. I do quite a bit of vermin control shooting with a group of friends, and miss out on a few to mates with AR's. Have put around 700 steel case through and several thousand all up with no...

    Off centre firing pin strike

No goes bang every time, and hits most of what it's pointed at. My mate has decided not to deal with this bloke anymore. Thanks for the input.

    Off centre firing pin strike

Will try to get a fired case, and post a photo, I remember picking up some of his brass at the range one time and it didnt look "off". The gunsmith "specializes " in load development and accurising. The rifle is a hunting rifle not a benchrest target gun.

    Off centre firing pin strike

Does the firing pin being off centre have any accuracy, or ignition time effects. This discussion started when a buddy had a gunsmith work up a load for his 270, and was told that to get it to group better he would have to have the bolt head worked to centre the firing pin properly. All my...

Low recoiling 100 yard 1903A3 loads

in my 308 10 gr of blue dot under a wheel weight cast lee 180 gr rn with no gas check or filler shoots sub inch groups off a rest. Lube is straight beeswax and the bullets are not crimped. Have also got similar results group wise with paper patching using 18 gr of 4227 but find pp fiddly

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

Yep, its a m85 zastava, the so called "mini mauser" sweet little rifle rides as the bike gun most of the time.

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

Barrel is 19.5 inches, 6 power scope, little guy was running at the time. Rifle is a zastava 6 shot bolt. Thinking about it Ive had the same issue with goats and wallabies up close, at 200 yds I seem to get more controlled expansion, guess it is speed and bullet construction.

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

Should have used a better bullet! Been cleaning out what my game camera picked up a few weeks ago, got dad and mum, and have been cleaning up the kids. Had my 223 today loaded with my std reload when I saw 4 little pigs, took them all thinking they'd be nice eating but turned out to be pulp...

Might have hogs, want to know if I need a different .308 load.

Kill every sow you can! that's the only way to reduce the speed at which the population grows they also taste better in my opinion to boar. Flintknappers thread is excellent, take a tour through all 58 pages one rainy afternoon.

Might have hogs, want to know if I need a different .308 load.

I mostly use a 3030 with 180 grain cast lead bullets, or an sks, to stop them. Pigs arent actually as tough as people make them out to be. Ive killed a 150 lb (gutted weight) sow with a .22 head shot but i did feel undergunned at the time. Your 308 will do fine.
