Let's talk defensive REVOLVERS for bears...

Although not listed above, to vote on, I believe either Ruger or Freedom Arms, once made a 45-70 SS SA with a 7 1/2" Barrel. I handled one in a shop, way back in the day, so I know they exist. That would work for me!

What is your primary defensive firearm?

IMHO, your primary defensive gun, is the one you carry most, the one that's with you the most of the time, no matter what is going on, under normal conditions. For me, that's my Sig P238 in .380 with Buffalo Bore Ammo.

    Calibers, pick 2 of 3 (9mm, 40s&w, 45acp)

9mm and .45acp for me, however, I prefer the .45acp. I own two 9mm guns, and I own seven .45acp handguns! I also have a JR .45acp Carbine, which uses Glock 13 Round mags, what a gem! BTW, I would have picked the 10mm over the 9mm if it were listed. I have two of them as well. The .45acp will...

can you find a better 9mm ballistics gel test than this gold dot 115 gr?

The truth of the matter is, any of them will kill you, with the proper shot placement!

A red Dot a Laser, or neither on a Carry gun?

NO add on equipment, except quality Night Sites, and then that's just to make you feel good. Almost all defensive shooting situations take place at less that 20 feet. In truth, you probably will not even try to place your sights on target. You, as most do, will point and shoot. many will not...

    Considering a .380 (as a backup)

Lots of talk, about all kinds of compact .380s. All I can say, is that I have been carrying a Sig P238 for about 5 or 6 years now and I LOVE IT! I carry it, 24/7. I carry it cocked & locked, with no fear of any kind and it goes bang every time, no matter what I feed it! For me it's a point and...

    32" O/U 12 gauge for skeet?

I use to shoot competition Skeet and Trap back in the late 70s & all of the 80s. I know and understand the reasoning behind longer barrels when shooting Trap. The very same should be true, in reverse, for shorter barrels in Skeet. The shortest allowed being 26". Can anyone explain the reasoning...

    32" O/U 12 gauge for skeet?

If your truly serious about sheet shooting, a 32" barrel/barrels is too long! Most serious competition shooters use 26"/28" open skeet barrels. At the short distances that skeet are shot, a 2" or 3" wider spread makes a huge difference, especially in competition shooting. Yes, you see a lot of...

CZ guys, how do like the SP01 for HD/NightStand gun?

No, mine are also 19, but with 1 racked into the barrel, that leaves 18. I do not cap off my magazines, with a loaded gun.

Rossi Plinker vs. Charter Arms Pathfinder Target

I have handled and fired both many times, several friends have them. I think they are both very good, well made guns and highly underrated. I would take the Rossi, only because of the extra 2 rounds, it carries. I have a couple of CA Revolvers, 45acp & .44Spl and love them both.

CZ guys, how do like the SP01 for HD/NightStand gun?

I also own a CZ P-09, which I do use as my night stand gun. 18 in the mag & 1 in the tube, ready to go! CZ handguns are so far underrated, that it's a joke. I have put about 500 rounds through this one, without a single hiccup, no issues of any kind. Although I am primarily a 1911 Guy, I do love...

    Aim or point and shoot?

I am of the belief that point shooting, from below eye level, within 15/20 feet is much faster than trying to acquire the sights. In reality, point shooting, at close range can be very accurate, with a little practice. As an example, without a weapon in hand, just bring your hand up quickly...

    Best fold knife?

I have worn many, many different folders over the years, most were good, a few excellent, but none were ever as good or as strong as the Buck 279 that I have been carrying the last four or five years. Holds a great edge and easy to sharpen when needed.

What's up with Cableas & Bass Pro

A lot of people don't realize it yet, or maybe wont accept it yet, but certain classes of retail stores are already dead, it's just that they too, don't get it yet! If you want to pay crazy prices to support your local big name retailer, so be it! I have worked very hard for what little money I...

What's up with Cableas & Bass Pro

Who really cares? Like someone already said, I use both stores for looking at and checking out something I am interested in. If I like the item, I then buy it somewhere else, usually online, at half their price or there about.

Quantifiable Criteria for a "Woods" gun?

Here in Southern Nevada, the largest predator I could run into, other than man, would be wild Dogs, Bobcats or extremely rare, a Mountain Lion. I use to carry a S&W .45 Colt Mountain Gun, with two rounds of Snake Shot, up front, followed by four rounds of 255gn SWC. I always have my Sig P238...

What do you do with your carry gun when you are home?

I carry a SIG P238 .380 in a right front pants pocket holster, at all times, as well as at home. Basically, it's on me or on my bed side table 24/7/365. Oh yes, hanging on a towel rack, when I'm in the shower.

Talk me into or out of a Marlin 30-30

Buy that 30-30 Lever Gun!!! The Marlin 336 inn 30-30 is like an original govt 1911 in .45acp or an original Browning Hi-Power in 9mm. They are classic, they are among the best at doing what they were designed for, even today!

Talk me into or out of a Marlin 30-30

The 30-30 is probably the most underrated round in the USA. In a Marlin Lever Gun it's a dream to handle and shoot. It will take down anything you can hunt, in the lowered 48, but it would not be my choice hunting Brown Bear or Moose. If you know your gun and know how to shoot it, it's a deadly...
