How many guns do you think the average gun owner has

Must gun owners I know have either one or two.

What's your reaction to hideous grammar/spelling/punctuation in gun-related postings?

I frequently skim the local gun trader website and won't consider responding to an ad which is full of obvious flaws and general non-caring. I feel that if the language is poorly attended to, then how well maintained is the item I want to purchase? Maybe my reasoning is flawed but it's based on...

Local open carry demonstration - 2 show up.

I would absolutely be embarrassed to be associated with anyone who cares so little about the English language - no wonder only two showed up.

Attention MODs - possible airline transport sticky

I just flew on USAir out of Phoenix. The gun checking procedure added 45 min for me due to an ill-trained ticket agent. I always get those it seems. She kept wanting to put the orange neon tag on the outside of the bag. I had to insist that she look up the procedure in her manual, etc. What a...

How do you hug while carrying a concealed handgun

Five hugs yesterday. Normal hugs because they're better than low arm hugs. Everyone bumped my 1911 but no one said anything about it or seemed to care because the hug takes priority I guess. If someone did say something then I would take the opportunity to say that it's safer there in my...

How do you hug while carrying a concealed handgun

Going to and from I carry because crazies and criminals share the streets with me. But when I get to my destination, I refuse to leave the gun in the car because it could easily be stolen. Therefore the safest, most secure place for it is in my holster on my belt. Plus if there happens to be a...

    Draw or move first?

You can save a bunch of ammo by practicing shooting and moving with a empty gun. Get the mechanics down first then add ammo later. If you have a laser you can note where the dot is when the hammer falls to give you some idea of your accuracy.

Attention MODs - possible airline transport sticky

I use the words "I need to fill out an unloaded firearms declaration form." It's much less scary for the ticket agent and it prompts them to get me exactly what I need. Most of the time they tell me that they haven't done one of these in a long time and they usually need guidance, especially at...

Would I see a difference in changing to a Wilson Match Grade 1911 Barrel?

3-4 inch at 12 yards is pretty rough. Try it from a rest to know for sure.

Would I see a difference in changing to a Wilson Match Grade 1911 Barrel?

That depends. How much slop did the old barrel have? If it's like most I've seen, then you'll probably have a tough time seeing any difference unless you're shooting from a rest. Do a blind test. Have a buddy install the Wilson or the original and then you shoot. See if you can see any...

    Favorite .45

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry stainless that I'm about to sell because I finally found my dream gun - a Kimber Compact CDP. 4 inch barrel with officer frame. Perfect carry gun for me.

Something not right about this picture

I'm guessing that it's closer to 180 degrees off.

What's the used gun market like in your area?

The local Florida trader site looks good on the surface, but many times I try to contact the listers and they either don't respond or they communicate so poorly that I just give up. It's really sad actually.

arizona school police officer makes parents mad.

Heck, if I were the officer in question, I'd have a parade of my officer buddies there every morning. You know, all in the name of the safety of the kids.

Favorite "gun" scene in a movie?

You're absolutely correct. The laws of physics agree with you too. Thanks for continuing to fight this myth!

    I LOVE my 686-1!

I hear ya, it's an amazing gun. I just got done stoning my old 686 trigger and was blown away by how buttery smooth it is now. I mean it wasn't bad before but now it's perfect. Still haven't shot it live yet, but I've really been enjoying dry practice with it. I've fallen in love with mine all...

    Kahr PM9

I have a PM9 with night sights and crimson trace. I bought it as an EDC carried IWB but I never could draw it very fast. Too hard for my clumsy hands to get a good hold of the little gun. I have about 500 rounds through it with zero malfunctions. And it is amazingly accurate. I like the smooth...

    SW 686 v Colt 1911

Every single female who has shot my 1911 has worked the slide perfectly. You must be talking about either 95 year old frail women or micro pocket semi auto slides. That being said, almost all have preferred the 686 because, well I don't know exactly. All I know is that they're really drawn to...

Day Hikes in Great Smokey Mtn. Nat'l Park

So jealous! I've camped there before and just love it. Amazing hiking there. Went to Cade's Cove last year and saw 11 black bears in one day if you include the ones I saw on the back roads in northwest NC earlier that day. I love the Smokies! Bug spray plus my 1911 and camera and I'm all set.
