    Shooting somebody else's ammo?

I bought some commercial reloads (Minute Man) some time ago # 45 out of 50 kicke like a mule, jammed the cylinder and when I got the cylinder open thr primer fell out and I had to use a rod to get the empty case out. I only use reloads from a very good and careful friend.

    Any love for one-handed shooting?

Contender 45-70 (handgun variety) with a 16 inch barrel, satisfying clang from 50 yards away. ONCE! it's just too muzzle heavy to hold for long with one hand. Recoil wasn't too bad.

US Police vs. UK Police ???

In the good old days the only Bobbies armed were rare. (#10 Downing St and places like that). When circumstances warranted they were armed with whatever surrendered or otherwise available guns they had. Used to be a great sight, Bobbies in uniform, one with a us military holster complete...

So Let's Hear It For The Spouses.........

I had a great one too. The only two new guns to come into the house were hers. She even got her hunting license and we both helped out at the Hunter Ed. class for several years. Sadly the Lord did an early recall, I miss her.

    service pistol

Why does everyone want imported firearms. Isn't the average member of this board at least a little patriotic? How about American guns for American military?

Why not make all bullets have steel cores instead of lead ones?

Swedish MilSurp 6.5x55 has a mild steel jacket no copper coating. Apparently that's the way the Swedes have being doing it for years. My Carl Gustafsen (?spelling, I'm not opening the safe at this time of night to check) still has a great bore and its about 90 years old.

    Mythbusters 7/13 show

Hmmm a few oopses there. ".9mm", ".12ga" .9mm might wound a housefly. .12 ga is something along the lines of naval big gun The "." was on every caliber description When they unpacked the 50 cal one of the hosts was standing uncomfortably close to the business end. Oh yes, the owner told...

    the newest newbie

There's been a lot of discussion about dry fire on the Ruger forum recently http://www.rugerforum.com there have been occasional broken transfer bars attributed to dryfiring. The majority of folks there say that there's no problem. I've dry fired my Rugers with no broken bits but I'm...

    Craziest firearm "fact"...

Hollow point and soft point ammo vs ball. Military use is restricted to ball. Hunters get to use HP and SP. 'Taint a fair comparison. Then there's the question of recoil. Troopers of old complained about the 45-70 govt round.

How many criminals know to use Defense/Hollow Point ammo?

My guess is that they use whatever ammo is in the "hidden" house gun that the bgs steal when you aren't home. There is no safe hiding place from bgs and children.

    Suicide weapon

Poe 9999, I feel that if you feel strongly enough to post here you probably should not keep the gun. Trade or sell. I have several milsurp rifles and have no problems either, but that's me, follow your feelings.

    Ruger GP-100 .357 4" Blue

My late wife and I went to the Gun Store to pick up a .22 revolver. We ended up with he picking out a new blue GP100, 4",full lug and fixed sights. I got a slightly used Redhawk (never thought I'd own a SS gun!!). Never even looked at the .22. Anyway now its mine (on paper, at least, its...

    Price For S&W Model 19

Diamondback, I like your logic. Dinner, drinks etc.with a lady costs the down payment on a nice gun. I used that logic on myself and have a $600 MIG welder. Back to topic six years ago 6" model 19 with x2 Burris scope 98+% $250. Don't have it any more, a very special lady friend fell in...

    Dread demo video

I had to go to http://defensereview.com then scroll down to the article on Dread, open the article and download the video onto my computer. Ran fine then. It was a little disappointing - lots of animation. I have Quicktime but couldn't view on line. Maybe the free version is missing...

    Cleaning cylinder ring

I read, on either here or the Ruger forum, that you can use an empty case with teeth filed in the ‘open’ end with a small triangular file and a handle of some kind soldered into the primer pocket. Just check for burrs. This shouldn’t do any damage to the chamber (brass cases only)...
