Need help deciding; 1911 or P220

Why not get a sig 1911 and have the best of both worlds? Seriously though, they're both magnificent guns.

    A 45 "Why" Question

I agree with you sir, if it isn't broken, no need in fixing it. If you reload try experimenting some with your loads to improve your accuracy. That also gives you an excuse to shoot. All my 1911's shoot very tight groups with 230 grain cast SWC and 5.5 grains of 231.

Zombies are invading... our shooting culture!?

Strykervet, You make a valid point, if zombie shooting gets people involved in shooting in a way that casts a positive light on the sport, then I say go for it. I doubt I'll ever participate in it myself, just not my cup of tea, but to each their own.

    Winchester model 70, 670 or Mauser 98?

PLEASE don't have a heavy barrel put on a pre '64 model 70. That is an amazing firearm that will serve you well just how it is.

Zombies are invading... our shooting culture!?

This is the first real mention of seen of it, though I've seen it alluded to in other places on this forum. I'm a young guy (27), but I've been shooting since around age 5, and zombie shoots don't hold a lot of allure for me. I shoot with guys mostly old enough to be my father, so no wonder I...

Hello all, My name is Jake Scott. I'm 27 years old, and I hail from western North Carolina. Ive been what seems to be called a lurker on the site for a few months now. I dont post a whole lot, but I enjoy reading what like minded people have to say. My interests lay mostly in large frame...

I notice alot of used sigs for sale..

You also see a lot of Colt, Kimber, Glock, S&W etc. out there for sale used. Does this mean there is something wrong with them...not at all. One other poster hit it on the head I think when he said the greener pastures thing. Us gun people are collectors by nature, and seeing how most of us...

    Deadly force...

I don't know if any other posters have tried to break a car window, but you damn sure don't do unless you mean to. If the assailant was pounding on my window that hard I would have presented, if he failed to stop I would have shot before getting bitten.

Whats your favorite deer hunting firearm and

I have always hunted with my winchester model 70 featherweight in .270. My father gave my twin brother and I both one when we graduated from high school. Aside from the fact that always performs flawlessly, it has great sentimental value to me. Those featherweights are real handy in the woods.

    What's your "never buy" gun?

Wow, the diversity of opinion is truly something to appreciate. This thread is certainly proof of that. While I can respect any opinion arrived at through experience and logic, its the one's claiming a particular brand or make is "worthless" or "junk" without providing proper evidence to...

    El Paso Saddlery

They are top quality, one of about three that I use regularly. You can't go wrong.

    Bloviating About The Chiappa Rhino

Good, interesting, and thorough review. However, it will never see the inside of my safe. I respect the innovation, but traditional wheelguns have saved far to many lives to be replaced willy nilly by something so new and unproven. On another note, I believe it is cavalier bordering on...

winchester ammo and the sig 1911... issues

I just got my sig 1911 rtss in earlier this week. It's a VERY tightly conctructed pistol. I haven't shot it a whole lot yet, but it has cycled 230 grain SWC and RN with no problems. One method I use is hand cycling, to check my handloads. I find that most of the time (not always, but 99%) if...

Ideas on a survival rifle&pistol, for the Alaskan wilderness

I've spent a good deal of time in the bush on the west side of Kodiak Island. In my experience, a shotgun has absolutely no place in the Alaskan bush. If I were stranded, I would want a large bore wheel gun, .44 caliber at a minimum, for the sole purpose of bear protection. For food gathering...

    Please explain the "Scout Rifle"

I bought one of the first scout rifles that ruger put out several years ago, before the recent improvements. On the subject of the forward mount, long eye relief scope, I found it good for fast target aquisition, but not much else. I also don't think its a lot faster to get on target than a...

I'd buy back my pin barreled S&W 29 I sold when I was broke in college.
