I've owned a C model for a couple of years. Only negative was some brass to the face. I sent it back to Taurus (because free in the first year) and it came back ejecting the way it should.
Have around 500 rounds through the gun with zero failures. It isn't very pretty but I like the way it...
Get better magazines. I've got around 5000 rounds through my SR1911. The factory mags will cause headaches.
Get some good quality mags and be happy.
In my case McCormicks are working great.
The $180 new price for mine made the decision easy.
I shot mine a bunch when I first got it and it always worked (accurate as well).
Now I shoot a magazine every few times I go to the range.
If a small gun is what the situation calls for the 738 is great bang for the buck.
I will however...
My normal carry is Glock 19. Hard to argue with that capacity. Rarely carry spare mag.
My lazy carry is a TCP. I carry that IWB with a spare mag in pocket.
New to me last week is a Ruger LCR. Way less recoil that Airweights. Fits nice in front or jacket pocket with Nemesis or without a...
I had my permit for ten years and never carried around town. I really just had it so I could have a grouse pistol up front in the truck legally.
Two and a half years ago some deranged asshat killed a little old couple for no reason and I was nearby with my kid and no gun.
I went out and...
Shoot what you feel comfortable with and bring a spare.
One of my guns is a Ruger 1911. They are loose but both reliable and accurate. I've been shooting the Ruger at IDPA for 6 mos and have about 5k through it. Not a hiccup.
This is with 100% handloads of RN lead and shooting low powered...
I save the sp for the unlikely case that I run out of lp primers. When I've shot them (using Win 231 and normal spp) I've noticed zero difference though I haven't chrony'd them.
I've also used them for shoots where I don't want to pick up brass (idpa and such).
I switched to Tula in SP and LP because of price and availability. Very pleased with them.
I've run a few thousand of the LP's so far without complaint.
I will probably stick with them when the 10,000 of each run out.
I switched from CCI to Tula because of availability/price. It's the only nice thing the panic did for me!
I've shot about 3,000 LP's so far with no complaints. They work the same as CCI's in my 550b too.
I'll be trying the SP and SR as I run out of the last of my CCIs.
I bought a TCP last year for the same reason you are looking at it.
I ran about 700 rounds through it to "make sure". At the end of 700 I sent it back to Taurus for some ejected brass coming at my face.
It came back ejecting to 3. I would have done it myself but they pay the freight both ways...
I held out as long as I could. I've seen them in stock a few times. About three weeks ago my lgs had both models for $700.
I chose the full size and love it.
After some range time I shot it in two IDPAs and a Steel Challenge. This is my first 1911.
I figure I have around 700 rounds through...
I haven't looked at the Nano's mags but would assume you could cut off the overhanging plastic (if that is what it is made of). You could do this with one dedicated spare pocket mag.
I've got a TCP that I've seen others do this to. I was going to do it, got lazy and just got used to the...
I've like mine. I sent it back (free) because it started hitting me in the face with brass at around 300 or so rounds.
They must have put a stronger spring in the extractor as it now shoots brass over my head and about 20 feet back. I was looking for a change in the bevel so it would shoot...
I had a post about a magazine issue in a gen 3 Glock 17 the other day. The culprit was the magazine follower. Plastic near the top edge of the follower had deformed and prevented the follower from raising all the way up.
An exacto knife cured this.
Thanks
Everything I wanted to know. Thanks for the great replys. The gun has the newer locking block.
The rest of the internals look very new. I expected the exterior wear (police gun). I guess I really didn't the belive the "shot little" part of police trade ins.
Now I just need to...
I have a new to me Glock 17 gen 3. The gun was a police trade in. This is my first Glock but not my first handgun.
My fault for not doing a thorough inspection when buying. When I got home I disassembled the gun to clean it. I found wear marks (rough) on both sides of the inside of the...
