Your gun will let you know what it likes and you will likely end up trying a lot of different bullets.
My Kimber Longmaster Classic doesn't like mid-weight bullets 50-60 grains. Shoots these more like a pattern than a group and during load development I thought I had purchased a POS rifle...
I also have a Guide Gun, mine is factory ported. I've shot just about every combination of stuff there is. I keep coming back to H-4895 with a Hornady 350 grain RN bullet for hunting and I cast my own 340 grain bullets for plinking. Trail Boss sounds interesting. I may have to try developing...
Another question for the group. Aside from capacity, is there a physical difference between 7 and 8 round mags from the same manufacturer that would give one a performance/reliability edge over the other?
Any opinions on how you think these bullets will feed?

This is exactly the kind of info I was hoping for. Thanks and keep it coming. It helps me narrow my choices and I benefit from the experience you folks offer.
Do your comments pertain to the Springfield Mil Spec that I bought or are you asserting a generalization?
So during the revolution or purge or whatever you want to call it. Your local resistance/militia supply has cases and cases of 9mm and 45 acp but no 40 or 38 Special or anything else. At least you can stay in the fight with a gun that has ammo available.
Same thinking with rifle ammo...
Two revolvers (357 and 44 special) and a Taurus Millenium 40 S&W that I lost to a safety recall. None of which I still own. I don't count rimfire in the mix. My favorite is my Beretta 96 in 40 S&W. I also like the wife's S&W 38 snubby.
I picked up my first 1911, the Springfield Mil Spec.
I see the manufacturers SKU number P16074 for the factory magazine. It's 8 rounds.
How do I tell which after market magazines will work with my gun? Can someone recommend a specific magazine to me?
