    S&W 686 v. Colt Python

Some years back I bench tested my Python against my model 28, both 6", and there was no real difference. Both shot out the center of the target. I guess I'll have to test the 28 against my 686 now. :D I'd test my 686 against the Python, but I sold off the Python earlier this year. Absolutely...

What is you're idea of the perfect Truck, or "car" gun?

I keep a single shot .410 in my jeep with an assortment of shells. Makes sense for poking around the desert like I do.

    torque wrench?

Whether you need one for occasional use or not is something only you can answer. As far as a cheap Harbor Freight torque wrench itself, I have one along with an expensive dial indicator wrench. I've bench tested them side by side and they read exactly the same. I use them both on my Jeep.

What Type Of Ammo Do You Carry In your 380 Pistol?

Buffalo Bore 100 gr. hard cast flat nose.

How much junk do you drag to the range?

If I go to the range, I take one bag containing ammo, eye/ear protection, some spare targets, and masking tape. That's all I need. If I go out in the desert, well that's a whole nuther story. :D

    s&w m&p 38sp

For that price, I wonder if it isn't a Victory model modified to accept .38 special. There's a difference in value between a modded Victory and a M&P / pre-10.

Taurus TCP vs Kel Tec P3AT

Don't have a TCP, but do have a P3AT so you can figure out what side of the fence I landed on. First, I've had zero problems with the KT. It isn't a range gun by any means, but I usually run a mag or two through it whenever I get the chance. After that, I'm done. Suffice it to say it's a...

    SKS Accuracy

I had a Russian SKS that was far from accurate. However, that was just one rifle. Most semi rifles I've owned have been more than satisfactory, shooting above my abiliity. Depends on the gun. On the other hand, I'd give the edge to bolt actions overall. Just my opinion.

    Thinking About Selling My Revolver

If you really don't need the money, I'd hang on to the S&W. First off, someday off in the future you may find you feel differently. You might really regret letting go of it, especially as your tastes and thought processes change with time. Every once in a while a thread gets posted asking...

What Does "Have Gun Will Travel" mean to you?

"Wire Paladin, San Francisco". You have me by a dozen years or so but I still remember watching the show when it was broadcast in living black & white. I remember the song and in my mind I can still see the card as it was shown at the beginning of each show. I had a six shooter cap gun with...

    What was your first revolver?

This one. Bought it forty years ago next month. Still my favorite. The original numbered grips are in the box.

    The Joy of a Beater

This one had a tough life before I found it. I've thought one or twice about refinishing it, but then I come to my senses. Shoots good, what more could ya want?

    s&w lock

Hmmm. My carry J frame doesn't have a lock My backup carry J frame doesn't have a lock either. And my backup backup carry J frame doesn't have one. But this isn't so much because I hate/fear the lock. It's just that there are so many well build older guns out there that can be had for...

    Rescued a SW 28-2 blued 6"

Trade wise you did fine, and considering you really only have $200 in the deal, I'd say you did spectacular. The 28-2 is a great gun. I've been shooting mine going on forty years now. Personally I'd leave it alone, shoot it and enjoy it. Nothing wrong with honest wear, and judging by the...

    Gp100 springs

I installed 10 lb. Wolff hammer and trigger springs in my GP100 years ago. I've put a fair number of assorted rounds through it since then, and have never experienced a FTF with it. Not a one. As a matter of fact, last time I qualified for a CCW, that's the one I used for the revolver...

    The gun that got away

Back in the late '70s I just had to have one of those "new" stainless steel guns that were becoming all the rage. I located a nice model 67 and traded straight across for it. What did I trade? Oh, nothing much. Just a beautiful Diamondback in .38. Still brings a tear to my eye.

    S&W Governor - a home defense option?

Okay. I own a governor as well. I don't use it as a HD gun, I prefer my old model 19 for that. But if the governor was all I had, I'd sleep very comfortably. First off, it fires a .45 LC. I don't think even the extreme governor haters would tell you a .45 LC isn't a potent self defense...

Interesting Find: Very Early Chief Special

Nice looking gun, at least from the photos. The half moon sight and S/N make it one of the early Baby Chiefs. And yeah, as far as I'm concerned the price is out of the ball park. But then again, you wouldn't believe what some serious S&W collectors pay just for empty boxes from that time...

    when is ammo too old?

Right now I'm shooting through a bunch of '47 8mm Turk. Haven't had one fail to go bang yet, and so far I've gone through a couple hundred of this particular year. I'm pretty sure most of the Turk I've got is late '30s and early 40s. Never had any problems with any of it, other than split...
