    Motor Oil for Lube

I use Mobile 1 synthetic 10w-50. Works fine. Some LE and Govt. agencies use Mobile 1 for AR's, and buy it by the case. One quart will likely last me indefinitly. Doesn't have to be 10w-50. For more delicate work where I need to drop oil into tight places, I like FP-10 or MilTech.

First full day of CC. & How do you secure your pistols when left in your vehicle?

Can think of few things more likely to be stolen in a smash and grab, or any vehicle burglary, than a brief case. DO NOT leave gun in briefcase. Don't recommend you leave the brief case, for that matter. I use a Lock Box secured with a wire. It hides under the seat and is hard to see...

S&W Bodygaurd, the best snubby ever?

There's no such thing as the best, since any answer is subjective. Only some good ones for which different folks have different preferences. Not that I don't have mine.:D Best includes biscuits and gravy with tabasco, anchovies on pizza, and a 640 loaded with CorBon DPX.

The 38 Special Nyclad HP is back!!!

Apparently it's coming back because of popular demand. It was considered the best performing standard pressure load that offered reliable expansion--even at snubbie velocities. Was popular for the recoil shy for use in light J-frames. Apparently, it still is--especiall with all the super...

Boresnake not getting the job done

The bore snake if great for running thru the chamber and bbl. of a pistol (or shotgun) to clean out most of the fouling before you leave the range. I use it when I shoot the pistol I'm carrying, or my shotgun.. Then I clean them properly when I get home.

    If it's A right?

You could argue that if it's a right, any restrictions would be an infringement. But the courts (with SCOTUS in agreement) have also ruled that some restrictions are not in violation of the RKBA. Now we get to fight it out with re: to what is reasonable and what isn't and whether it...

What's your favorite movie/TV show gun battle scene?

Still haven't seen a better shot than a guy tumbling off his horse after a long range, delayed action, pistol shot in Magnificent Seven. Also one of the best gun fight movies, along with Peckinpaws' Wild Bunch. And then there was Zulu.

    .45 acp. defensive load...

I don't think there's a pistol round commonly carried for SD that you could describe that way. Pistol bullets are famous for performing perfectly without impressing Bubba in the slightest (at least immediately), even though he's been fatally shot. The truth is, some will always choose...

    .45 acp. defensive load...

One of the benefits of the latest and superior bullet technology is that expansion seems to start immediately and be reliable through heavy clothing. Penetration is good, and the bullet profile enhances feed reliability. HST, Golden Saber, Gold Dot, and DPX seem to fall into that...

    I was disarmed today

On the way to the car I would have stopped and bent over and asked the security guard to put his boot up my @&% for being such an amaturish klutzhead and allowing myslelf to be made like that.:D Now, mind you, I'm not calling you any names, but that's how I'd see myself if it'd been me...

    Micro Stamping!

Micro stamping, smart guns, add new weapons to AW list, licensing, registration, require all guns to be locked up so you won't have access, "safety" technololgy, magazine bans, barrel length restrictions, require "arsenal" licenses, outlaw types of ammo, and on n' on 'n on. The Democrats are...

    Dealing W/ Anti-Gun Cops

They make small digital tape recorders these days that work quite well, and could prove usefull when being abused by "authority".

    how important is it?

A bullet without a crimp groove was not designed to have a crimp "bite in to it". The taper crimp is DESIGNED for semi auto pistol cartridges that are supposed to headspace on the case mouth l(even if the extractor prevents it from doing so). The purpose is to restore the case walls so...

    Dealing W/ Anti-Gun Cops

"Because the violent people you deal with every day usually prey on law abiding folks like me. If they weren't still out on the street, you wouldn't be needed and would be employed elsewhere." " Well, officer, when you get a call to a violent crime in progress, what percentage of the time do...

    Digital scale or regular?

Hey, we're in the battery powered age. Check out sights these days.:D I've left my RCBS digital constantly on for a number of years now--why turn it off? Still works fine. Still have my old Lyman- Ohaus beam scale, circa late '60s, for back up and for trickling. To be honest, I still...

    Dry Firing

A Sig Tech, back when you were allowed to talk to a real smithie at Sigarms, told me to always use snapcaps. The firing pin has a tendency to want to keep goin if it doesn't hit something. Snapcaps keep the FP return sprg. from getting as stressed out, also. If you use A-Zooms with poly...

Who here has shot an S&W 340PD? (Airweight .357)

My 342PD .38 Spec. with +P ammo was rather unpleasant to practice with, so I swapped it for a 642 Airweight. I'm in my 6th decade now--probably wouldn't have been an issue 10 yrs ago. I know fierce recoil isn't necessarily an issue in a L&D situation, but I want to practice with my BUG...

    Excuse Me, But Your CCW.....Isnt

Maybe, 12131, but if I should run into you some time and see your vest is (unknown to you) hung up above your exposed gun --I'll still give you the courtesty of letting you know--and would thank you if you ever did the same for me---even if it wasn't any of your business.;)
