Am I the only person who cleans his guns?

I guess this should just about sum up the thread

Reality vs Fantasy: the case for .22 Carry

Unless the thigh is grazed, the .45 round will incapacitate the attacker unless he is a drug addled insurgent. The soft tissue damage, and resulting fracture if the bone is hit will knock any but the most crazed psycho on their butt. This has become a silly thread. A .22 while better than...

    Gun show, decline in quality?

Went to the gun show in Medina, Ohio last Sunday. There are guns hows just about every week with the same promoter rotating the dealers in about a 250 square mile area, and there is the one in Medina from a different promoter, yet even this one has a lot of the same tables. That being said...

Reality vs Fantasy: the case for .22 Carry

Consider a Ruger 22/45. It has the grip and feel of a 1911 type weapon, and you can afford to shoot .22's for hours. While it will not replicate the recoil, the trigger pull and sight picture acquisition practice should improve your accuracy. This particular model seems to have no feeding issues...

    M1 garand question.

The northern store is at Camp Perry outside of Port Clinton Ohio. When I was in the Guard last year, my First Sergeant picked up a service grade for about six hundred if I remember right. As far as I know you need to be in the Guard, Reserves, Active duty or belong to an affiliated club, which...

Am I the only person who cleans his guns?

Why I am even debating this shows I have too much time on my hands. To me the way you are describing cleaning a truck and a weapon would be a complete dis-assembly. I am talking more of a field strip. With my truck I do wash the undercarriage, rinse the wheel wells and the door jambs, as well as...

Am I the only person who cleans his guns?

It doesn't. It is a mental crutch some have come up with to justify non maintenance. I am assuming they are talking about brushes wearing chrome, or over scrubbing to the point where the bluing is affected. If you keep them clean you don't have to scrub the you know what out of them when you get...

    Gun show, decline in quality?

I like to go to the gun shows, at least to plunk down some cash for ammo. You can pretty much get a decent deal on that if you look around. Its kind of nice seeing a lot of the same people ( sometimes) and just sensing the anarchy in the air. Where else could you be this entertained people...

Am I the only person who cleans his guns?

I clean mine after each use. Its probably just brainwashing after being in the military. I have much more confidence in the weapon if it has been cleaned and function checked after each use. To me they are too expensive to leave unmaintained. It doesn't matter 5 rounds or 500 rounds. You wipe...

sig p 2022 what makes this gun a good/great gun?

Meh, I had one. The brass is ejected into your face while shooting. FTF higher than any other Sig I have owned. Overly expensive and hard to find mags. I sold mine and bought a P-250, I am much happier with it. Personal opinion, to each their own.

    Warnings about "celebratory gunfire"

A friend of mine on shift at the East Cleveland Fire Dept. took a video on his smart phone last new years eve. It sounded like Mogadishu out there. You could hear the difference in calibers and sounded like there was automatic fire. As long as they thin their own herd...

Reality Check: Do you know how to shoot?

Some people are more "natural shots" than others, that being said some formal training should be obtained. One of the best formal training situations is the military. Some on the board might question the validity of military training, but when you carry a rifle for 9 weeks of basic training...

Good Price For New Ruger 22/45?

I just paid $320 for one with the faux wood grips, that included the FFL and one hour of range time.

    draganov accuracy?

The downside I noticed with my PSL is after it heats up the thin barrel tends to wobble, decreasing accuracy but I would still feel comfortable hitting a pie plate out to 400 yds.

Cheap Semis - Saiga 5.56/7.62, SKS, etc?

I bought a Saiga sporter in 5.45 x 39, installed a bullet guide to accept AK-74 mags. I can get 5.45 for $135 a 1280 count tin of corrosive, or the n.c. Silver Bear for $7 box of 30. Dirt cheap and damn near the 5.56 in my book.

    New Beretta 92 jamming-help!!

Same gun, had the same problem. It didn't matter what ammo I used. It turns out the extractor spring on top of the pistol was not seated properly. This was brand new from the factory. Once I reseated it, it hasn't had a malfunction in about 2000 rounds. I feed it anything from Wolf to custom...

Ruger 22/45 Thoughts & Price Check

Yeah I pretty much reassembled it incorrectly and spent my hour at the range cussing and trying to fit that little pin in behind the retention pin assembly while my wife shot her Sig. I think I have the routine down now, I will purchase that sear now that I know what the trigger is supposed to...
