.25
I know personally of two citizens who were killed with Raven .25's. I sold both of them when in the gun business. Police came to verify that they had bought them from me.
.223
I have killed 6 deer with my .223, all one-shot kills through the lungs at distances from 50 to 150 yards. Shot placement is paramount as is distance (I will not shoot a deer over 200 yards with a .223). I use Federal 55 grain Bearclaw ammo. None ran more than 40 yards. The .223 is plenty...
20 gauge blowup
When I was younger (stupider) I hunted with a Sears 20 gauge bolt gun. When hunting rabbits one day I shot at one and blew about 6 inches off the barrel. The 6 inch part fell close to me. I had gotten mud in the barrel and didn't notice it. Carried it home and hacksawed the...
Bulged Barrel
When I was in the gun business a friend brought in a Remington 742 in 30-06 that had a bulge about 4'' back from the muzzle. I bought it for $50. Took it to my range at the house and it shot fine, MOA accuracy. Put it on the rack and sold it for $150 after first letting the buyer...
Bullets
For deer the cup and core bullets such as Core Lokt, Federal Blue Box, Winchester will do as well or better than the premium kind at a much better price.
.243
I have a friend (now deceased) who hunted moose in Alaska. He carried a .300 Weatherby. The locals laughed at him. He said 95% of them carried .243's for their subsistance hunting. They said you put one through the lungs and wait about 30 minutes until he lay down and then skin him out...
Range
Sight in at 200 yards. At 25 yards shoot a 3-shot group. It should be dead on or 1/4'' low. Cut the 25 yard group out and put it in your wallet. If your scope happens to get off on the hunt it is easier to resight at 25 than 200. I have used this method for years.
25-06
I once had a 26'' barrel 25-06 dedicated to long range prairie dog shooting. I had a 100 gr handload at 3500 that was death personified. Killed many at 500 yards. Wish I had it back.
Knife
Any law is expected to be worded so that the most moronic fool can understand it. No one is expected to have even a dab of common sense nowadays. It is understood that a knife is a dangerous tool. Treat it like one. Neither of these folks should get a dime and should have to pay all legal...
