    Why is it so addictive???

Tell me about it ... just picked up a Storm Lake .40 cal barrel for the Glock since I don't trust the one that survived the KaBoom ... along with 22 different types of .22LR cartridges for testing. Damn near spent $300 ... happens about once a month ... I need to sell a car!

    Brass Availability

agree ... when I bought my M&P40 I also bought 1,000 rounds of Federal Champion. I now have 1,000 cases that have been reloaded 2-3 times. Buying brass for the sake of buying brass, when factored with the price of powder and primers and bullets, it's just as cheap to buy some FMJ plinking/target...

    .40 S&W w/Titegroup, chronograph results on 3 loads

3 different loads evaluated. I specifically loaded up some 4.5grain rounds to run this test. The test compares 3.5, 4.0 & 4.5 grain loads. Other than powder throw, everything else is equal: 165 Rainier RNFP bullet, Federal brass (multiple firings), Winchester WSP primers, Hodgdon's Titegroup...

    .40 S&W w/Titegroup, the journey continues

I will start another thread for the new video, but had the chrono out today and it worked flawlessly ... was definitely the lighting conditions. The chrono results are in for 3.5 grains, 4.0 grains and 4.5 grains ... with the kaboom I had, I feel confident in advising people NOT to take it over...

    .40 S&W w/Titegroup, the journey continues

In this video, I attempt to use a newly acquired chronograph to test the 4.0 grain load and then further test the 3.7 grain load with 45 rounds slung down range. Finally, I test 5 rounds of 3.6 grain and 5 rounds of 3.5 grain. Slide is cycling beautiful with no FTF or FTE. Enjoy watching my...

    Bench/Range Report: .40 S&W w/3.9gr. Titegroup

Shooting wasn't that good at all, but I like to attribute that to my gloved hands (had some cuts healing on my trigger and middle finger) ... at least that's my excuse ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utzU3zZcTis

Had a KB! How do YOU properly check case crimp???

Load Data: Case: Federal (once fired - bought rounds and fired myself) Primer: CCI 500 Powder: 4.9 grains of Titegroup Bullet: Rainier 165 grain HP Video description explains exactly what happened. Over bell removed all neck tension as the die wasn't a under-sizing die. Over crimp turned the...

Had a KB! How do YOU properly check case crimp???

for a jacketed bullet ... plated bullets should be loaded with lead cast bullet data, at least that's what Rainier suggests. The recommend starting at the mid point and adjusting accordingly. As for plinking or target loads, you can go as low as will cycle the slide reliably and going hotter...

Had a KB! How do YOU properly check case crimp???

Just a followup to keep all those informed. I have a new screen name as well as a new pet load that I'm now shooting (4gr. TG, Rainier 165gr. RNFP). I also FINALLY got the Glock back from the factory and I think they didn't bother to inspect the barrel ... Check out these two videos and pay...

Range Report: New Pet Load (.40 S&W)

Just finished uploading part II of this where I run another 3 -15 round mags through the M&P40 with a great first mag (minus the flyer) and 3rd mag grouping. After this, I proceeded to put another 15 rounds through the Glock G27 that I had the KaBoom! in (back from the factory rebuild). Enjoy...

Range Report: New Pet Load (.40 S&W)

Reloading mishap - all primers detonated (pics to follow)

completely depends on the load if weighing finished rounds can find a squib or double charge. I say this because I reload .40 S&W with 4 grains of Titegroup and a Rainier 165 grain RNFP bullet in Federal brass with Winchester small pistol primers. In this setup, the primers are the only...

    Hornady ammo plant

regardless, the ammo plant (standard Hornady red), minus the graphics is about $1K cheaper ... that's a buttload of consumable supplies!!!

Show us a picture of your reloading bench

inspected my bench after writing that thinking it might be the case ... found a slight wobble in one of my legs ... about 1/16" shorter than the rest ... shimmed and now is rock solid as well ;)

Looks great ... a little word of advice: If you are going to forgo the front legs, make sure you lag bolt rear legs to studs in the wall. If your legs don't align with wall studs, I'd opt to lag a 2x4 or even a 4x4 between the last two legs (nearest the press) and then cross bolt those 2 legs to...

Glock problems - whats the fix?

How many rounds and what type of ammo have you shot through the pistol? Lack of cleaning carbon buildup behind the striker face or something as simple as a prematurely worn/broken striker spring.
