For home defense they would be great, for carry they are pretty heavy, even the compact sizes. Good luck on your future purchase !

They are simply the most ergonomic, accurate, and sweet shooting factory pistols I've shot. The control placement is excellent and they feel great in the hand. With drop in parts they can have excellent excellent single action triggers. Out the box they are pretty sweet already. A lot of...

9mm is a great choice. You will be glad when you're buying bulk ammo that you bought a 9mm. XD9s are a great also and cheap. They go for $400 these days. I've shot most of the really popular 9mms, and ive owned most of them. Shoot them all and decide. The top 5 most popular are probably ...

    1911 hammer lowering ideas?

Why in the world would you need to decock a 1911? Either carry it cocked and locked like you're supposed to, or don't even bother leaving one in the chamber.

Unless you absolutely need a right side slide stop, I would just opt for a CZ Shadow over an 85 combat if you've got the budget for one. The shadow has ambidextrous safeties and you can switch the mag release to the right side.

I own several CZs now and i've sold almost all my other pistols now with the exception of one 1911, a ruger Sr1911. I've sold my glock 17, my XD9, my rock island 9mm 1911 and replaced them all with CZs. I own 5 now. I've got both a 75 shadow single action and a 75 shadow (DA/SA). The single...

    Maine competition?

Everyone says they're going to go to just watch the first time, and every single time they wish they just brought their gear and competed. Every. Single. Time. Just jump right in. I went to my first competition (uspsa) with the mindset that I didn't expect to do well, expected to make...
