    Is your reloading and shooting.....

You bet , not long ago I was planning on buying a .308 rifle again for use at long range target. The prices of the .308 Sierra match bullets were so high I said the hec with that and will just stick to my .223s - which are no longer cheap to reload , at least with match components - but less...

    Rem vs. Rem vs. Savage

For barrel changing on the cheap the Savage is hard to beat. That is what I will eventually do with my .223 12BVSS if I decide to keep it. My stock barrel fouls rather quickly and I am lucky if it will get more than two good groups in a row. I also had a Sharp Shooter Supply trigger installed...

Shootin a 223 in the rain, ? for you Pros

Me too , as I have actually shot some of my best .223 target groups in the rain with minimal wind as compared to a rainless day where the wind is gusting.

just some goups from my AR i'm pretty proud of.

Yep , those are some good groups especially for the 55 FMJBT. I have had great results with Sierra 52 or 69 grain MatchKings , might give then a try unless you have already.

.223 Remington Powders in Decending Order

For target shooting loads these 3 have returned very consistent results with the best accuracy in my current .223s: Benchmark - for 55 and 69 grain H322 - for 69 grains H335 - 52 and 55 grains Varget has performed pretty well for me but does not meter well in my powder measures. Win...

    Reloads vs. Factory Ammo

Not everyone that owns a rifle uses it for hunting , most of the shooters I know or see at the range who are primarily target shooters reload their own ammo. It is extremely gratifying for me to shoot my all time best targets using ammo I loaded myself. Kind of like a guy at the local dragstrip...

Not bad for a 40+ year old!

Yeah I did not realize there were any 22lr rifles made that way! Some excellent pics , looks like a new rifle! Thanks for sharing!

    223 and H335 which primer

Yep , after my primer blowing range session I drove up to Sinclair and told them what happened and the guy said to take the bolt apart and that I was likely to see a small piece of primer in there. I bought a bolt removal tool and he was correct.

    223 and H335 which primer

In a dozen or so years of shooting the .223 in various rifles H335 has provided me with some of my most accurate rifle loads using rem 7 1/2 primers. Funny you should mention this as I loaded per Sierra manual using H335 and their 52 MatchKing with a load that was under max. Upon firing I...

Picked up a new rifle today (pictures)

The CZ test target is not really a testament to the accuracy potential of the rifle - more of a function test. I have never heard of anyone on the CZ forums over at rimfirecentral.com who could not easily exceed the "accuracy" of their factory test target. I own a CZ Special , now called a...

Remington LTR vs. XCR Compact Tactical vs. SPS Tactical

I have the LTR and it has been my favorite of all the .223 bolt actions I have owned. I did upgrade the trigger to a Jewell. I also have a 26" SPS Varmint that came with the X-Mark trigger and actually found it to be quite good for an out of the box 700. Better than any of the 700s I owned...

    Does using a bench-rest = cheating????

In regards to hunting I doubt there are any long range varminters who do not utilize some type of resting position. Although I am sure that is not considered to be real hunting by many. Military snipers seem to always utilize the Earth as a rest and I would not consider them cheating because...

    180 Gr Xtp

The best accuracy I ever achieved with the 180XTP was recently when using VV N110 for the first time , but this was with a TC 10". Have not tried in a revolver yet. In revolvers H110 , 296 and 2400 have all been excellent performers for me in the 357.

    H-110 and 44 Mag

I have used the exact load (24.0 H110 , WLP , 240XTP) many times in my 44 on hot summer days and never noticed the extraction being any different than milder temp days. Not owning a chrono I cannot tell you if there were any signifcant velocity variations. But 237 fps increase from the same lot...

    Ruger Blackhawk

My blued 357 Blackhawk 6 1/2" is one of the most accurate 357s I have owned. For me my 4 5/8" 357 balances somewhat better but the 6 1/2" is still pretty good. The stainless models will have a steel gripframe and ejector rod housing the blued Blackhawks will have alumnium. The 50th An. Model...

    VV N-110 in .357 mag

I picked up a pound of N110 last month. For now I have used it in a TC 10" single shot 357. Using the Hornady 180XTP it delivered the best accuracy I ever achiveved with that particular bullet and almost my best grouping ever regardless of bullet weight. I have some more loaded with the...

Marlin 1894 Micro-Groove vs Ballard accuracy?

Used to own a Micro-Groove Marlin 1894 in 44 in the late 80's and it was quite a shooter with Hornady 240 JHP. Also shot a 357 version that a friend let me borrow , it too was a Micro-Groove model and shot very well with 158 JHP. I know the new Ballard rifling is suppose to be better for cast...

Is a magnum primer really necessary for H110 powder in the .44 Magnum?

The WLP is listed on the box as LARGE PISTOL FOR STANDARD OR MAGNUM PISTOL LOADS That is the primer I usually use for my 44 mag loads with H110 or 296 with excellent accuracy.

    Anyone use VihtaVuori for .223?

After reading the replies here I have to conclude the guy working the counter at Sinclair that day may not have been too familiar with reloading the .223 using VihtaVuori powders. Hec , he said they did not even carry N110 until I showed him it was listed in their catalog. For the .223 I will...
