For all of you that say, "I asked the intruder to identify himself and he refused, so I'll turn on the lights to see who it is."
Well, if I was a BG, I'd love you for doing that. I'll just keep quiet, that way you keep yelling out and I can find exactly where you are to put you in the ground...
I'd say shoot to stop, but whenever you draw your weapon, aren't you doing so with the idea that you are going to more than likely end a life? Not saying that you want to, but it just goes back to "don't aim at anything you aren't planning on killing".
Well, it isn't actually mine. I bought it for my lovely little lady when she decided she needed a pistol with a little more meat to it than a stainless Walther PPK she was packin' for CCW. I'm a diehard 1911 guy, but after shooting this pistol, I might be looking for a police trade in for myself.
If it's a short barrel model, I have one just like it. What I've found is take your thumb, slide the release lever to the side and give the entire gun a good flick. The gravity will used the weight of the barrel to go ahead and open the thing up. It's almost the same method like casting line...
I have the exact same setup as the one listed above. However, I took the target grips off since the butt was pretty thick and swapped them out with some thin hogues. They made it more slim under my arm and easier to hold on to expecially when shooting heavier loads. I not only carry it this way...
I've used www.auctionarms.com several times and liked it best. Seems like you can find some good deals and not nearly as much bidder competition. So it probably sucks if you want to sell something, but fantastic if you want to buy something. For instance, recently I bought a S&W 29-3 in 98%...

If it gets her into shooting, by all means do it. I had a girl that insisted on only shooting my cowboy guns. She thought they were more traditional and not as threatening to her. Whatever floats her boat.........Git-R-Done.
As a cattle rancher, I've taken down many coyotes in my day. Usually it's around dusk and I get them across the field along the timberline with an old winchester m70 .30-06 loaded with some special loads. When I've hunted them, all you need is a good rifle, a good scope, and if you want to go...
I really like the store in Springfield, MO. It's Bass Pro Outdoor World and is the "Granddaddy of them all". The best thing though is next door is the Bass Pro outlet where they send all the catalog orders that are returned after Christmas.
Growing up on the ranch, the six shooters and leveractions were just tools of the trade. I can't ever remember being without a leveraction. Currently I have two leveractions one in .357 mag and the other in .45 colt. I also have two ruger vaqueros with one being in .356 mag and the other in .45...
