Given the abuse I have seen checked baggage take, I would NEVER trust my firearm to a factory case. Additionally, not all factory cases have secure locking ability. If you care about your gun and want to fly with it, invest in an appropriately tough case.

I love the concept, as I already own a Taurus Titanium Tracker in 41Mag -- basically the same gun only lighter. But in a steel gun, if both 41 and 44 Mags were available in the same non-N-frame gun, I'd probably just go with the 44...as much as I love the 41.

With regard to sight radius, a shorter barrel with a blurp (sp?) tube will accomplish the same thing. Many of the high-end 3-position target rifles use them.
