I have one in 9mm and use it for point training with a FNX9 and PF9. It's good quality and I feel it's worth the money.
I don't usually use it with the targets but just aim it at various things in the house and point and shoot to see how close I can get.

One other point, Aluminum (no matter the specific alloy) is a much better conductor of heat and can dissipate heat much faster than Steel can. The powder blast may be very hot but the Aluminum will get rid of that heat quickly. I agree that erosion could be a problem over time.
A pancake is probably the most concealable of the OWB holsters due to holding the weapon close to the body and they are comfortable with the proper belt. They are more likely to print than an IWB, depending on the cover garment and your build.

I have one and it has been flawless after the first couple boxes. It's more accurate than I thought it would be. I would recommend it without reservation. Your mileage may vary.

We do shoot a 223 through a 30cal can but it works best on the 300 AAC loaded sub-sonic. There's more noise from the bolt/buffer and the bullet hitting the steel target...
