What are your guns with the most increase in value?

200 bucks was a lot of money in the 50's.

What are your guns with the most increase in value?

The milsurps as a group have probably done the best as they were often very cheap when imported and many have more than tripled in value. The only milsurp I wish I would have purchased a couple were the Russian SKS's. I am generally not particularly interested in milsurps.

    A scarce S&W .22 revolver. Model 45

    I second that!

What are your guns with the most increase in value?

My double action Colt 22 revolvers have done real well from an appreciation point of view. I am slowly selling some of them off. I don't have the collector drive any more. They just became guns.... fairly valuable guns, but just guns.

What makes a 22 LR rifle or pistol fun?

If you are pretty much convinced that you like shooting the 22LR in handguns, get yourself something accurate and probably a double action revolver like the S&W M617/M17. The only interesting guns are accurate guns as they say. A Ruger Mark III heavy barrel would be a good start with a 22...

    Colt Trooper, Python Barrel, Wow

Well, I have a couple of them that I would sell. No boxes as I recall, but all in very good to excellent condition.

    Colt Trooper, Python Barrel, Wow

Fits my feelings overall on the Python barrel issue. I just wouldn't be interested in one at pretty much any price. But it should shoot just fine.

Has the current firearms / ammo / component situation changed your shooting habits ?

Not shooting centerfire much..... I have a cache but hesitate to use it up. When I shoot, it is mostly with bolt action 22 rifles. I have lots of 22LR on hand as long as I'm not real picky as to what I shoot. I have never been a great shot with centerfire; I probably shoot my 41 mags the...

    S&W 29-2 became a 57 ??

I have a 4" nickel Model 57 I'd sell at current market price. It is in near mint condition. Also have a Model 57-5 Mountain Gun which is my usual high powered woods carry gun. The nickel pretty much stays home.

    Revolver cartridges for scoped usage.

I'm a fan of the 480 Ruger (single action) carried on a chest rig. BFR is my choice. Good to 100 yds if you practice. IF you are hunting, you probably will have the revolver in your hand or cradled like many do a rifle most of the time. Get yourself a monopod. It could double as a walking...

    Finally: Colt Frontier arrived

I like the New Frontier 22's for shooting. Have several. Enjoy the gun! But generally I favor double action 22 revolvers.

    THINK .38 SPECIAL (NOT .357)

I don't disagree with you about the 38spl revolvers. But in general, I shoot the caliber (357) that the revolver is chambered for or not at all with the exception of a Ruger GP-100. But, if buying now, I would go strictly 38spl or 22LR. I'm not a recoil junkee or at least don't care much for...

    What is your favorite revolver?

Favorite revolver that I shoot is the two M-63's (5" and 3" 22LR). My all time favorite revolver is the 4" Colt Diamondback, but I mostly don't shoot the DB's anymore. Favorite 357 is the 6" Colt Trooper Mark III. Haven't really been shooting the center fires much for the last year to two.

    Significant Changes in Perspective?

Perspectives change.... I started out with a rimfire rifle and a deer hunting centerfire rifle...... I was content until I wanted some home defense options. Did that. I have always liked 22LR shooting whether it be at a range or plinking where ever. As I got older, my interest in 22's...

    .22 cal HP ammo shortage?

I'm well supplied in 22 rimfire. During the last shortage, I was low on 22 Mag, but fixed that. The only 22LR I might be interested in buying is the higher end target stuff as I have lots of mid-range standard velocity LR on hand. 223.... probably could use 1000 rounds but I don't shoot it...

Freedom arms or BFR, which one is the most accurate?

I suspect that both brands, BFR and FA, are more accurate than I am shooting them. So to me it comes down to a money issue and personal preference. Both would get shot mostly from a rest and both would be carried in a chest rig in the field. Glad you're happy with your choice. Hope the...

Freedom arms or BFR, which one is the most accurate?

@Samb1611 So, was it your sense of typical accuracy of the FA83 or something else that swayed your opinion toward Freedom Arms? Few really can make an adequate comparison between the two revolvers. Most are simply.... I like one better because that's what I have and I like it. I personally...

    This is why

It is a good idea to maintain a spread sheet for valuables, knives and guns in this case. As the years pass, I personally forget that I own things and I certainly forget what I paid for them. So, the spread sheet is good documentation even if the current values do not approach current values...

Colt Detective Special vs S&W Chief Special (Model 36)?

If I were intending to carry the gun regularly, I would get neither and go with an airweight Smith. I like Colts and I have a Detective Special which I like. I reach for a gun to carry and almost always go with the airweight. But in the woods or out in the country, I would carry the Detective...

    Buyers guide 480 Ruger Alaskan

You might be able to shoot a SRH in 480 to get the feel. BFR's aren't real common. @MaxP knows his big bores!!
