    reloading manual

Lee I find the Lee manual very handy as well. It is a little more generic than others, but it is a good reference. I always check it before I start a new load. It has a good how to at the beginning for the new loaders as well.

    Best beam under $75

I would look for a used RCBS 505. I have been very happy with mine.

    Noob questions....

You have a great kit there! There is a lot of very good advice as far as additional equipement. Personally I am not a fan of the cheap electronic scales, I have had 2, MTM and FA, and both had trouble holding zero. Didnt seem to matter how old or new the batteries were, used them in different...

    Go Time! Purchasing First Press

Good luck with your purchase(s), I dont blame you for feeling the way you do. I researched reloading alot before I started too and once I made the leap it seemed like a really big and daunting step to take. I have only been reloading for a year and a half, I started out with the Lee...

Pulling TSX w/ RCBS collet puller

Yup, I swapped out the collet, I think that was the first thing I checked. Maybe it just is the shape or hardness of these bullets. I will have to give it a shot again tonight and see if I have better luck.

Pulling TSX w/ RCBS collet puller

I recently bought a RCBS collet bullet puller. I really don't like the inertia puller and the first time I used the collet puller I really like it. I was pulling 110gr Hornady VMax from 270 Win, no issues quick and slick! Now I am trying to pull 168 Gr TSX from 30-06, having a tough time...

    Hodgdon H4895 in .223

H4895 H4895 is my "go-to" powder. I luckily bought enough to last a good long time once I found out how much I like it. I use it my 308, my sons 270 (reduced loads for hunting) and in my 223. I like 25.7 grains of H4895 in a LC case, with WSR primers, pushing a 50 grain Hornady VMax. I am...

    order of 'prep'...

I have only been loading for a year and only for rifle, but I do like shiny brass. 1. Tumble in corn cob media for an hour or so. 2. Size (neck or full length) / Decap 3. Trim (if needed) using Lee trimmer and lock stud in a cordless drill, while brass is in the drill I also chamfer/deburr...

Building Reloading Bench - Have 52" x 32" to work with

Here is my bench, it is 48" wide x 22" deep. The shelf / cupboard at the back is 8" deep and 13" high, I would have liked to have built it higher but was restricted because it is in the bonus room of my house. Im not complaining way better then trying to be in the unheated garage during a...

    Grand kids

Kids I dont have grand kids yet. But my kids sure do like helping me. My youngest daughter, 9, helps with sizing and seating sometimes. My best reloading partner is my soon to be 12 year old boy he loves to help me load and is involved in every step but priming. He does alot of shooting...

Well, after my last thread I put off reloading...

For downloading a rifle for hogs/deer out to 200 yards my suggestion would be to look at the reduced load data for H4895 from Hodgdon available on their website http://hodgdon.com/PDF/H4895%20Reduced%20Rifle%20Loads.pdf Good Luck, Happy loadinging!!

    Favorite rifle powder?

H4895, is my go to versitile powder. Works well in my 308 pushing 165gr Sierra BTSP's, my .223 pushing 50gr VMax's, my buddies 250 Savage pushing 75gr VMax, another buddies 30-06 shooting 125gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and soon in my sons 270 Win for a reduced hunting load pushing some 130 bullet...

    Good, reasonable case trimmer?

Lee I like the the Lee trim gauges. Put the chuck / shell holder into my cordless drill then trim, chamfer/debur, brush the inside of the neck and lastly hit the case with some steel wool. Takes just a few seconds to prep a piece of brass. One gauge for each chambering you reload. It is...

How do you like to reload? Marathon sessions or fit it in whenever?

Im in the middle I guess. I do my reloading in batches, so I will decap/size 50-80. Then in another session I will do some prep work until I have that all done. Then I will usually load what I have prepped, takes a couple hours. My bench is in the corner of the bonus room so I will use what I...

Catching primers from an RC II

I had an older Rock Chucker II press given to me. Nice solid and smooth unit for sure! The only thing I like about my Lee better is the primer catcher is there a trick or some improvised devise I can use to catch the primers when I am resizing? Thanks!!

    One powder for 223 & 308?

I am running H4895 in my Weatherby 223 pushing 55gr Hornady VMax and my Savage 308 with a 165gr Sierra BTSP, both are bolt action guns. I first bought the H4895 for reduced recoil loads for my son, but found load data to go with my rifles so instead of buying more powder (limited funds and...

Show us a picture of your reloading bench

What's the best deal you ever got in reloading gear?

Best deal! I have a couple of friends, brothers who were given a bunch of reloading equipment by their uncle's and grandfather who dont reload any more. My friends found that reloading just in does not fit in their lives now. So I am the winner in this situation because they dont want to just...

    New to loading 223

Neck sizing I only shoot bolt action rifles, no AR's. But I have found that neck sizing sure helps to speed up the process and less triming involved.
