http://www.slideshare.net/mobile/lawrenceks/know-your-kansas-snakes. This was my source RC but i will stand corrected since you have the official Kansas web page, this site list the timber rattler as protected. About six slides to the right, top left corner of the page.
14g of AA#9 works well for me, under a 158g xtp. The only reason I went with AA is its what I could find, 2400 has always been my .357 go to powder but I'm almost out. I did have some rounds loaded with 14g of 2400 and it would not cycle at all.
With THR you don't have to learn it yourself there are hundreds of years of experience of reloading at your finger tips just for the asking. With that said there isa good demand for used brass. Do some searching and you'll geta feel for going prices. I've reloaded off and on for the last twenty...

Welcome LKLive13 I live just 45 miles south of you.
I love unique in 9 mm but I recently purchased a carbine that is recoil operated that
Just is not snappy enough to operate the bolt consistently. I'm experimenting with 231 and title group to see if they work any better.
I have an 8" in 44 mag I bought 10 years ago and its worth twice what I paid for it plusi got the pleasure of shooting it in the mean time. Awesome gun!
