    Sealing plain steel?

    I have a revolver that i completely stripped all the blue off of and polished it with mothers mag and wheel polish, may not be to "high tech" but it looks great and is holding up really well.

    is it odd for a 1858 repro to not have a manufacturers date code anywhere on it? I bought the gun used, its a richland arms "made by palmetto? and the only proofmarks i can find are the pn with star symbol, and the 2 rifles crossed with star on top, other than that there is a four digit number...

    smokin joe, i did make me a new hand using the method you described but ill be using it as a back up, smoke pole was right on with it just needing to be filed away a little more, the funny thing is according to my micrometer i had already made the old and new hand the exact same length, i guess...

    "cylinder would turn but the hammer wouldnt stay back" thats where im at with it right now......did you have to file away some of the width as well as the length ?
