Couple of things. First, only one state has more gun owners than California, and that is Texas. Second, geographically, most of California is conservative, but the population centers are all near the coast. See this recent article...
You make a decent point. It is just easy to put it in there and let it sit. Of course, the gun I shoot best is probably my Blackhawk. I also try to shoot every week. It is just easy to leave the gun I don't like in the safe. I shoot the 17 ok. I can easily hit a pie plate from 7, 14, and...
I have the same problem. I shoot my 19 and 26 pretty well--some days I shoot them better than my CZs! But last time I took out my 17 and 19 I found that the fat of my hand that hits the backstrap hits the 17 in just the wrong place. It forces the muzzle up on me just a hair. Then I have to...
I can tell you that the Ruger LC 380 is one of the lightest recoiling centerfire pistols I've ever shot. It isn't that much fun to shoot though (relatively speaking) because of its long double action trigger pull. In 9mm parabellum the full size service pistols are all pretty nice-- the...
I have a CZ 75 Compact, which is very similar. Great gun. You will never regret owning it or shooting it. I've never had any problems of any kind with mine; soft shooting, accurate, and comfortable. They also break in nicely, so the more you shoot it the better it gets.
There are some things that the original poster needs to decide. The SR9 is striker fired, the CZ has a hammer. The CZ 75 also doesn't have a rail and is heavy compared to the SR9. I am a big fan of Ruger, Glock, and CZ so I don't think I have any bias between the three. I like and shoot all...
Thanks for your review. I really appreciate it when guys write up guns like this. I ended up getting the LC380 for many of the reasons you mentioned. It has many of the drawbacks you mentioned as well, but I have been very happy with it.
I guess I agree with everyone else.
Best all 'round:
I think the Ruger single six is a great place to start. I guess I consider the Single Six convertible to be one of the most useful and essential firearms in my safe. You can do an awful lot with it.
For target and range:
From there...
If you want a small, heavier, double stack 9, go with a CZ Rami. Single stack .380? Go with the LC380. It is a very soft shooting .380. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions about either gun. I own both.
These days probably CZ and Ruger. Good value for money and great customer service. I like Henry, too, for the same reasons but they have a more limited product line.
I guess my signature line says it all. 8 CZs and 10 Rugers. I guess in this case I have put my money where my mouth is.
I have a good deal more than a history degree and I'd rather see us talk about guns. I spend all day correcting bad history. I don't want to do it on the forum I read for fun! Because this is an anonymous forum I have no way of knowing who any of you are but in general Mr. Ettin's comments...
You will love it. It will spoil you. If this is your first CZ rimfire I promise it won't be your last one. For extra kicks shoot it with CCI quiets. I also like to test those sights and shoot long range with a spotter. It is pretty fun to lob those .22 lr 200+ yards and watch them come in...
