    Trifocals for shooting open sights?

Red dots work best for me. Progressives were a huge improvement for me. Had some very aggressive cataracts removed, and the improvement in my distance vision is fantastic. Need readers for iron sights, but again, red dots work best for me.

    Compact/Micro 9mm Suggestions?

Mine's actually been reliable, and I'm starting to shoot it a little better, but I might not have been completely serious.

    Ruger “Mark” configurations

As long as it functions, and hits where you're aiming, you are getting the whole Ruger MK experience. I've got 6" heavy barrel 22/45 mk iii, because that's what was for sale (and it gave me the opportunity to try a red dot).

Controversial Question! Good Shooter vs. Bad Shooter

Best of the best? Above my pay grade. If you can't shoot a MK II, or a Single Six, what would you do? Should you buy a high dollar target gun, or are you better off with a used $350 Ruger and spending the difference on ammo and learning to shoot something that isn't considered the best of the...

What .308 BA would you buy if you had a $2000 budget for gun and optic?

Ruger Gunsite Scout. Light, accurate, easy to shoot well, box magazine, threaded barrel, just add the clearest glass in your budget.

Finally the 65-5LS .... the grail comes home! (a lot of joy at the moment).

I think it's a great revolver! Carry it, shoot it, enjoy it!

357 Magnum vs 5.56x45 in carbines

Hornady XTP HP 158 grain, on their box, recommend velocity from 700fps to 1500fps. That is easily exceeded with a carbine. You may not think that I'm getting those problems with a 158, but the manufacturer thinks I will. They make a version of the XTP intended for higher velocities called the...

Trust Yourself, Colt Officer near DISASTER

More likely you've helped a less public person understand that a mistake isn't the end of the world, and that while the more disciplined and detail oriented among us likely have fewer mistakes, we all deal with our own errors. And this is a good place to ask for advice in correcting our...

Which Guns Would You Pick If You Don't Reload?

I'm set up to cast and reload for the .358, .429, .308 families, and they cover anything I might have a need for where I live. I really don't want a gun that tosses my brass all over the place. But if I didn't reload, .223, .327, 9mm, .257 might all be attractive. But no interest in them...

    Red dot or irons

That's easy and quick, training yourself to present the firearm so the dot comes up on the target is more of a process, but dry fire in the evenings goes a long ways towards developing the skill.

This all seems like a lot of work. What you need is a saw, we all know you really want a 5" revolver.😁

    Red dot or irons

An RDS is not necessary to shoot well, even at distance. There is a discipline that irons foster that you can miss if you only shoot a dot. I'm glad I learned on irons. But I typically shoot 25-40 yards with a handgun, and while my eyesight was excellent, it has degraded, and shooting quit...

    Red dot or irons

#1, we all have budgets, I enjoy my firearms and their accoutrements, spending for something that improves my performance is worthwhile to me. #2, iron sights don't help me see the target better, but that isn't really an argument to look for a firearm without them. #3, I have not found them to...

Wanting something for squirrel control besides a 22 and need opinions.

Guys, he started this thread because his wife said: "Buy a new gun". A .17 isn't a terrible idea, but neither is another .22. If your Marlin is a lever, look for a bolt (CZ) and some glass for on top. If your Marlin is a bolt, maybe try a lever, or a semi. Or maybe a Ruger Mk handgun?
